Announcement wu ma.de today that the president of the fire Richmond banks ' have : Conned ! an organisation for the purpose of promoting In this city the sale of United States government bonds issued under the recently authorized seven billion dollar Liberty Loan. 'V These bonds, bearing 3 per cent interest and . non-taxable, are to finance the war against Germany and Richmond bankers believe It to be their patriotic duty. to do everything In their power to promote the sale of such bonds. 'The local bankers' committee today Issued the following statement : Millions Able to Subscribe There are In the United States at present more than ten million (10,000,000) individuals and corporations who are able to make subscriptions to the new Liberty Loan in amounts ranging from $100 to $100,000,000 each. Thistimate is conservative when we consider that there are more than 40.000,000 persons engaged In gainful occupations in this country besides the 'large number of men and women whose Income is derived from their Investments. If every individual in the United States -should, subscribe to the new bonds to the extent of only five

per cent.' of his r her total possessions, the loan will be subscribed to

six times over. 1 Germans Offered New Loan " ' A few months ago the German government offered a new loan of several billion dollars, and although this issue had been preceded by four or five other government bond offerings, it is reported that applications were received from 5,250,000 subscribers. The population of Germany is less than two-thirds of the population of this country, and the estimated 'total wealth cf the German Empire, according to a computation made shortly before the outbreak of the war by Dr.

(Helfferlch, Secretary of the German

treasury, was placed at from . sixty-

mine to seventy-six billion dollars, or

'about one-third of the wealth of the

Old Looks?

(bt dr. u b. smith) Persons Buffering from -too much uric acid in the system frequently look older than they should. They age faster and the appearance of gray hair or baldhead in early years is, indeed, often a sign of uric acid. The face appears lean and haggard, lines and wrinkles appearing in . young men or women. The best way to combat this premature age and the obstruction to the arteries and faulty circulation is of. the simplest: Drink copiously of pure water between meals. . This will not make you fat, as it is only the water taken with the meals that fattens. Obtain at any drug store a package of Anuric (double strength), which is t6 ba taken before meals, in order to expel the uric acid from the system. The painful effects of (backache, lumbago, rheumatism, gout, Idue to uric acid in the blood should quickly disappear after treatment with Anuric. PERFECT HEALTH IS EVERY WOMAN'S BIRTHRIGHT.

Some time later I learned of Anuric and got it at once. I Boon began to feel better. I kept up its use until I was completely cured of this ailment. I have not- had any more backaches and my kidneys are in fine condition. I feel safe in recommending Dr. Pierce's remedies for I know they are good." Mas. Mart E. Poweiis, 7:28 Columbia St.

The bank reports also show that on Mach 5. 1917. there were 459,619 shareholders in the national banks of the country, including 138,204 women stockholders. The latest bank returns Indicate that the total resources of the banks of the United States at this time, including national banks, state banks, trust Companies, savings banks and private banks, is approximately thirty-five billion dollars, exceeding by far the greatest banking - resources ever before shown in any country. Fifty years ago we raised over three billion dollars to provide for the expenses of the Civil War. The wealth of this country today is eight times as great as it was then; our banking resources are twenty times as great as they were then, or even as late as 1870, At this time we are in a position to raise, with far less effort, ten billion dollars or fifteen billion dollars, or more; and if the money should be needed, it win be provided and provided promptly.
