Many substantial additions to yesterday's sweeping gains were made at the actire opening of today's market, equipments and munitions again being most favored. - Advances in these- groups ran from large fractions in U. S. Steel and Bethlehem Steel to 2 points each for Virginia Iron and Superior Steel and 2 points for Airbrake. Central Leather, shippings, motors, coppers and Industrial Alcohol gained 1 to 2 points. Louisville & Nashville led the rails at a 3M point gain. Union Pacific rose a point with Illinois Central and Reading. . Trading broadened with the progress of the session. COPENHAGEN, (via London), May 17. Owing to the shortage of coal Hamburg is now without gas, except a limited supply for a few indepensible
institutions. Most of the restaurants and cafes are closed in the evening.
WOUNDED BOY IMPROVES
- Raymond Ingalls. son of Louis Ingalls. 109 South West Second street, who was accidentally shot Tuesday, is much improved. While he is not out of danger yet, his condition seems much better than expected.

WASHINGTON, May 17. The war army bill today lacked only the senate's approval of the conference report before .being ready for President Wilson's signature. The house yesterday accepted the conference report, with Its provision for $30,000 minimum monthly pays for enlisted men and the senate was expected to take it up today or tomorrow.
GRAIN HELD IN STORAGE
CHICAGO. May 17. A review of grain held in Chicago, as conducted by John "P. Gibbons, chief Inspector of grains of Chicago, shows that there are 4,250,000 bushels of grains in public warehouses in the city today and that the inspector's office has know, ledge of 1,250,000-bushels of wheat in private warehouses.
