Four hundred thousand pounds of Montant wool was sold yesterday for 63 oents a pound, the highest price in the history of the western wool In dustry. The purchaser waa the Union Mill company of Boston and the trade was consummated in New Tork. This deal came on the heels of information that hardly enough wool exists to fill government oontracts Including blankets, socks and underwear for the army. Talk of the substitution of oot ton has forced that staple upward in the last few' days until 26 cents a pound is predicted for October cotton.
