MURPHY'S DAILY
TRANSPLANTING The recent rain have facilitated transplanting to 'the extent that it will not be necessary to follow ap the plants with a bucket of water as Is often necessary. An abundance of moisture Is essential for successful transplanting. After' transplanting has been done and the ground begins to turn white from drying, stir the soil with a rake or hoe in order to Ftart the formation of a dnst mulch to conserve this moisturv. In the selection of plants for transplanting, . one should choose strong, stocky plants which have been "hard-ened-dff" by having been transferred to a cold frame. By being transferred from the greenhouse or hotbed to the cold frame, and then into the ground, the plants thrive better than where they are taken directly from a hothouse and. suddenly put Into the open field. Before removing plants from the seed-bed for transplanting, it is advisable to Water them thoroughly a few hours before taking them up.- In this way, the plant tissues are fulled with water and the plant is less likely to suffer for want of moisture after transplanting, besides fewer roots are destroyed in pulling watered plants. Care should be taken to keep the roots encased in a mass of soil after removing from the seed-bed -and for transplanting. If the soil is permitted to fall from the plants, many roothairs are pulled off the plant. It' is these root-hairs which absorb the plant food and moisture from the soil. After the plants are placed in the hole, firm the soil about the roots. CAMDEN, 0. Mr. and Mrs. Earle Henry of Dayton, were Sunday guests of her parents, Mr. and 'Mrs. W. A. ' Try Grandma's Recipe of Sage and Sulphur and Nobody Will Knew. Almost everyone knows that Sage Tea and Sulphur, properly compounded, brings back the natural color and lustre to the hair when faded, streaked or gray. Years ago the only way to get this mixture was to make it at home, which is mussy and troublesome. Nowadays we simply ask at any drug store for "Wyeth's Sage- and Sulphur Compound." You will get a large bottle of this old time recipe improved by the addition of other ingredients for about 50 cents. Everybody uses this preparation now, because no one can possibly tell that you darkened your hair, as It does it so naturally and evenly. You dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking' one small strand at a time; by morning the gray hair disappears, and after another application or two, your balr becomes beautifully dark, thick and glossy and you look years younger. Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound Is a delightful toilet requisite. It is not Intended for the cure, mitigation or prevention of disease.
