west was thrown half across the room 'and against the counter. The loss sustained by the explosion and fire cannot be definitely stated. A dry cleaning business la regarded as a dangerous fire risk and for that reason only small insurance -was carried by Mr. Warfel on his business. - It is understood that Mr. Chauncey does not have much insurance on the building. Machinery used by the cleaning company is valued at approximately $4,500 and most of it has been ruined. Warfel, who is secretary to Congressman Comstock, Is in Washington. - - Little Damage is Done. No damage was done by the explosion, the fire or water to the buildings on the west of the cleaning plant Fires started on window sills on the east side of the McGuire building but ' these were promptly extinguished. Water caused slight damage to stock in the Union store. McGuire building; The storage tanks for the gasoline used by the cleaning company are underground and the explosion did not originate in them, it Is known. In the work room is a device for distilling the gasoline and a gasoline washing machine. Gard is inclined to believe that friction caused by a silk garment working through rollers in the washing machine was responsible for the catastrophe.
