When these boys present cards signed by their parents stating that the bearers do not know the art of swimming, they will be entitled to free Instruction in the Y. M. C. A. Swimming course to be given by Physical Director L. A. Schwan the week of April 30 to May 5. The schedule ot classes and instruction will be announced later. . Truttt preached the baccalaureate sermon Sunday night at the Christian church in the presence of the class of 1917 ot the Hagerstown high school and to a very large audimc. ' The invocation was by the Rev. Mr. Gruber, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church and the school young rolks furnished the music, with Mrs. Anthony Hower directing. The public school will close Wednesday and the commencement exercises will be Thursday night of this wek.- On Friday night will occur the annual banquet of Hageratown High school Alumni association. . About two hundred carloads of eggs, approximately 36,000.000 are on railroad tracks in Chicago today and they are being held by speculators, according to Herbert A. Emerson, who is on his way to his home in New York from the Pacific coast, where he investigated food conditions for John J. Dillon, commissioner of. the state of New York. Mr. Emerson said that the Pacific Coast states this year Instead of importing eggs as they hare done usually, will have a surplus of 75.000 to 100,000 cases. I. W. W. MEMBERS CURSED THE FLAG MINOT, N. D., April 25. Carl J: Helmgun and A. Ganson, members of the Industrial Workers of the World arrested yesterday for insulting the American flag, were sentenced in police court to 20 days in Jail. The men are said to have attempted to start a fight with a navy recruit and in the conversation, to have cursed the flag.

The Domestic Science class ot the grammar school entertained the Mothers' club at the school house Monday. There were eighteen members of the Mothers' club present and the class served refreshments of their own preparation. Mrs. Willard Stahr, who became a bride Sunday, is the teacher of the class. Early in the School season the Mothers' club presented this class with dishes. Last Thursday a similar affair was given by the Domestic Science class Of the high school complimentary to the Home Economics club.
