RICHMOND PLAYERS MAY LAND BERTHS

A couple of Richmond boys Warren Lucas and Paul Jennings members of Bade Myers' Richmond Central camp are making their . presence known to the rest of the squad engaged in mobilization work at Athletic park daily, v Lucas, a former S. A. L. light, infielder and all around man, is showing a wealth of talent around the second sack position. Jennings, at third, is introducing himself rapidly. Lucas and Jennings have worked with the team since its dedicatory workout Tuesday. No surprise should be manifested if either one or the other is heard from later. a Glance Cub Ainsworth to Open Drive of Myers' Team At this more or less distant date it looks like Ainsworth, the Cub recruit, and Long, the former Dennison star, would oppose each other at start of Richmond Central-Richmond Association pre-season opener at Athletic park Sunday afternoon. Texter, one of Bade Myers experienced backstop candidates probably.will receive Ainsworth. Glenn Novack, former Quaker, more than likely will be McCann's employ behind the plate. Considerable interest attaches itsself to the Sunday fracas. Inasmuch as this is the first baseball game in Richmond this year together with the fact that Richmond's talent is out for its first airing in public, a record crowd should be on hand. The line-up of the Richmond Central leaguers probably will include every mamhor nt Mvprs snuad on duty by Sunday. In case McCann's club doesn't pet over ambitious Myers plans to let his string of some twenty men gambol on the green. ... ' consequently. Manager Jimmie Hamilton of the Muskegs fcas ancthar protest to file with somebody. The military training idea at the camp cf the Springfield Harvesters is going big. Myers Irons Out His Garden Problem

With Booking of Fielder From Toledo

Bill Wilcox, an outfielder purchased from the Mobile Southern Association, team .reported today to Manager Myers. Another wrinkle in Myers' outfield problem was ironed out today by the purchase of Donaldson of the Toledo A. A. club. This player comes very highly recommended by Manager Bresnahan, who says he only needs a season of ripening in the Central to make his ready for the fastest company. Donaldson will probably report here tomorrow. Myers is also trying out a youngster named Crawford in the outfield. He has .only had semi-pro experience but is very highly touted and may land a place on the team. Players Stay Off the Field. A brisk ' north wind this morning kept the players off the field and their sore muscles were very grateful. Johnnie Willis, assistant manager and third baseman of the Kitchell, Ind, team called on the players this morning and invited them to play an exhibition fame in Kitchell this summer. Johnnie says that the regulation game Is played by the Kitchell team with the exception that any ball knocked over the fence is considered an out. Myers protested vigorously against such a rule being enforced if the Rich i Tailored at Fashion Park

mond club plays on the Kitchell field but Johnnie refused to give in an inch to him. The combat was finally scheduled, however, on the agreement that the team which wins gets the ball. "We'll have plenty of chicken for you fellers," said Johnnie. "What kinda chicken?" shouted the interested Mr. Gygli. "Friend," said Johnnie. Battery Men Look Good. The battery candidates are looking good to Myers and the indications are that Richmond will have as good a pitching staff as there is to the league. On the job now are Wenger, Ainsworth, Young, Hart and Fromholtz, all husky, big fellows with experience. Young Rook, leading pitcher of the Northern -league last season recently secured from Detroit, has not reported. Two other belated arrivals are Joe Evers, second baseman, and shortstop Murphy, secured from Weeghman's Cubs. Myers expects to work three of his pitchers In the game Sunday with McCann's semi-pros at Athletic park. As the warring kingdoms comprise 962,000,000 people, more than twothirds of the inhabitants of the globe are concerned in the struggle.
