DIMMER LAW IS HELD VALID

The much mooted question pertaining to the validity of the Richmond irdtnance requiring motor cars to bo aperated within the city with dimmed headlights wai finally settled today after a controversy lasting two years. A. C. Llndemuth, acting as special judge, entered a ruling today that every provision of the ordinance was valid. Ho presided as city Judge about ten days ago when Al Gregg, Harry Miller and Al.Collett were arraigned before him, each-charged with violating the dimmer prdinance. All entered pleas of guilty subject to the validity of the law. Mr. Llndemuth fined each man $1 and costs. From now on the ordinance will be vigorously enforced.

Marauding Dogs Incite Wrath

Residents of North Tenth street are complaining against the marauding habits of dogs. . ' Canines belonging to neighbors are running at large across ' lawns and creating disturbances at all hours of the day and night, it appears. One perturbed woman resident of North Tenth street has threatened to shoot disturbing dogs if their owners do not keep them at home.

urgent call for increased production of

foodstuffs in Pennsylvania was issued today by Charles E. Patton, state secretary of Agriculture ; ; - Mr. Patton. who returned yesterday from the conference of agricultural chiefs at St. Louis, said that Pennsylvania's part in the emergency call for greater production of crops is to raise oats, corn, barley, buckwheat, potatoes and navy beans. "It is very important," Mr. Patton said, "that the farmer devote his principal efforts to the production of such crops and the employment of cuch methods as are well established in his community and as are. likely" to yield the maximum return in food and clothing material. For this reason I urge the co-operation of the press, the banks, the commercial organizations, the religious and the social societies.'' i .... ' Postal Employes Enter Parade

Richmond postal employes will march in the Patriotic parade. Postmaster Beck today announced the office will be closed from 3:30 to 5:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. , No afternoon delivery will be made in the residence districts and- only one short delivery will be made in the business section. Rural route deliveries will be made as usual.

ing his intention to become a true American citizen, Gustave Greimo, 29 years old, entered a police station yesterday and handed over to Lieut Ewing . a rifle and lot of cartridges which he said he did not want until he.was given bis naturalization papers. He told .Lieut. Ewing he took out his first papers Tuesday and did not think it. proper for. him to have any firearm's in his house until he becomes an American citizen.

Clifford Hood Called by Death

Clifford Hood, who formerly operated the Model Department, store, this city, died at his home in Portland recently. Mr. Hood, who was about 58 years old. was the son of William H. Hood, head of the .Hood Wholesale grocery company, which now has a large and nourishing branch in this city. Clifford Hood disposed . of his interests here several years ago and has since resided at Portland, where funeral services were held and where the body was interred. ; Mr. Hood was extremely popular among his employes while in business here.

EATON ORGANIZES RED CROSS BRANCH

The Pyle Mercantile comany has traded its business plant at Whitewater to W. L. Henry and company, of Collett, Ind., for a grain elevator and other interests at Collett Thomas S. Pyle will move to Portland. The deal was arranged through the S. C Addleman agency at Whitewater.

EATON, O.. April 13. An effort to enlist the support of local women is being made and it is highly probable a Red Cross organization will be established in this city within the next few weeks. Leaders in the movement announce that the headquarters of the American Red Cross society have been asked for plans of procedure. Among the local women responsible for the worthy effort are Mrs. E. P. Vaughan, Mrs. Hannah Brown. Mrs. Mary Woerner, Mrs. Henry Stroh and Mrs. Arthur D. Davis. Detailed information will be given by anyone of these ladies upon request.

FLOUR REACHES $13

(By Associated Press) TOLEDO, O., April 13 Flour prices were advanced today $1 a barrel on winter- patents. The action followed advances yesterday to the new record price of 2.43 a bushel for both cash and May wheat. The new price Is 13.50 a barrel retail on the market.

ELDORADO GLASS ISSUES PROGRAM

ELDORADO, Ohio, April 13. Baccalaureate exercises of the Eldorado schools will be held at the United Brethren church Sunday, April 29, at 7:30 o'clock. Rev. Sarah Stoner will have charge of the devotional service. The address will be by the Rev. J. J. Rae, Richmond. Rev. E. S. Weimer will pronounce the benediction. Superintendent of Public Instruction will deliver the address at the graduation exercises at the K. of P. hall, on May 2, at 8 o'clock. Crane's orchestra . will play. On the class roll are Harry Juday, Levi Spitlor, Edgar Guenther, Ruth McKee and Dola McKee.

VILLA COMMANDER FLEES WITH SQUAD

(By Associated Press) DOUGLAS. Ariz., April 13 Facing execution if captured,' Gen. Jose Maria Acosta, a Villa commander, with sixteen other officers and two private soldiers, who are alleged to have entered Sonora to start a revolution, are fleeing southward. Carranza troops from Agua Prieta, Canarea, Cumpus and Arizpa, are today converging toward the point where they are supposed to be. .
