THOUGHTS TO THINK ABOUT Concurring opinions create customs, and these in their turn curb progress; when men preserve the customB of their forefathers they lose the individuality of themselves. It Is good for you to walk in the shadow of the sorrow now and then, that you may know the sweetness of joy when it comes to you they alternate in life as do the showers and the sunshine. ' Until your faith and your works agree the results of your living will be a minus quantity; your song 'and your prayer go off into thin air if you do not wager your work to win. Quality and price bring strangers to you by the hundreds, when they hear about you and your goods. Friends are sometimes fickle and will not give their trade to you when you are most in need of it the classified pages of the Palladium go to more than 10,000 hdmes daily. ARMOUR WARNS
Continued from page One! either cultivated this year for the raising of crops or will be devoted to the grazing of cattle and sheep. "As a measure of conservation, for example, I should favor the institution, by government edict, if necessary, of meatless days, one or two of them a week, such as they now have in Europe. That is a strange ioctrine for a meat manufacturer to preach, but I believe that, either by law or voluntarily, people will be obliged to stop eating so much meat during the summer months, especially, if they expect to have a sufficient supply next fall and winter. "It will be better for their health, in the first place, and it will conserve the supply of breeding animals on the farms, which are now being, in many cases, sacrificed and sold by the farmers in order to take advantage of the present enormously high prices. Cattle Double in Price. "The same grades of cattle, for instance, are selling now for practically
Doctors and Eye Specialists Agree That Bon-Opto Strengthens Eyesight 50 In a Weeks Time in Many Instances
A Free Prescription You Can Have Pillorl anrl lis at Hom.
Boston, Mass. Victims of eye strain ard ether eye weaknesses, and those .who wear glasses, will be glad to know that Doctors and , Eye Specialists now jeree there is real hope and help for them. Many whose eyes were falling tay they have had their eyes restored
and many who once wore glasses say they have thrown them away. One man says, after using it: "I was almost blind. Could not see to read at all. Now I can read everything without my glasses, and my eyes do not ..hurt any more. At night they would pain dreadfully. Now they feel fine all the time. It was like a miracle to me." A lady who used it says: "The atmosphere seemed hazy with or without glasses, but after using this prescription for fifteen days everything seems ;. clear I can read even fine print with- . out glasses." Another who used It says: "I was bothered with eye strain caused by overworked, tired eyes which induced fierce headaches. I have . worn glasses for several years, both for distance and work, and without them I could not read my own name on an envelope or the typewriting on tho machine before me. I can do both now, and have discarded my long distance glasses altogether. I can count the fluttering leaves on the trees across the street now, which for several years have looked like a dim ' green blur to me. I cannot express my ! joy at what it has done for me." '; It is believed that thousands who wear glasses can now discard then; ;in a reasonable time, and multitudes more will be able to strengthen their eyes so as to be spared the trouble and expense of ever getting glasses. ,: Dr. Beck, an eye specialist of nearly :twenly years practice, says: "A patient came to me who was suffering from Blepharitis Marginalis with all , the concomitant symptoms, as morning : Agglutination of the lids, chronic conjunctivitis and ephlphora. Her eyes jjwhen not congested had the dull, suffused expression common to such
cases. Having run out of her medicine a friend suggested Bon-Opto. She used this treatment and not only overcame her distressing condition, but strange and amazing as it may seem, so strengthened her eyesight that che was able to dispense with her distance glasses and her headache and neuralgia left her. In this instance I should say her eyesight was improved 100. I have since verified the efficacy of this treatment in a number of cases and have 6een the eyesight improve from 25 to 75 per cent in a remarkably short time. I can say .it works more quickly than any other remedy I have prescribed for the eyes." Dr. Smith, an oculist of wide experience, says: "'I have treated In private practice a number of serious opthalmic diseases with Bon-Opto and am able to report ultimate recovery In both acute and chronic cases. Mr. B. came to my office suffering with an infected eye. The condition was so serious that an operation for enucleation seemed imperative. Before resorting to the operative treatment I prescribed BonOpto and in 24 hours the secretion had lessened, inflammatory symptoms began to subside, and in seven days the eye was cured and retained its normal vision. Another case of extreme convergent strabismus (cross eyes) escaped the surgeon's knife by the timely use of your collyrium. The tightened external muscles yielded to the soothing and anodyne effects of Bon-Opto. I always instil Bon-Opto after removal of foreign bodies and apply it locally to all burns, ulcers and spots on the eyeball or the lids for its therapeutic effect. By cleansing the lids of secretions and acting as a tonic for the eyeball Itself the vision Is rendered more acute, hence the number of cases of discarded
Dr. Conner says: "My eyes were in bad condition owing to the severe strain arising from protracted microscopical research work. . Bon-Opto used according to directions rendered
a surprising service. I found my eyes remarkebly ftrergthrne(l, so ranch so I have put aside my glasses without dis-oemfc-rt. Several of my colleagues have also u-"d art w zrf agreed as to its results. I- n f?w rlays, under my obsrva' ho eys of r.n astigmatic case were fo improved that glasses have Leon discarded by the patient." Eye trorbls cf many descriptions may be wonderfully benefited by the use of Bon-Opto and if you want to strengthen your eyes, go to any drug store and get a bottle of Bon-Opto tablets. Drop one Bon-Opto tablet in a fourth of a glass of water and let it dissolve. With this liquid bathe the eyes two to four times daily. You should notice your eyes clear -up per ceptibly right from the start, and inflammation and redness will quickly disappear. If your eyes bother you even a little it is your duty to take steps to save them now before it is too late. Many hopelessly blind mi-jht have saved their eyes in time. Note: A city physician to whom the above article was sumbitted, said: "Yes, Bon-Opto is a remarkable eye remedy. Its constituent Ingredients are well known to eminent eye specialists and widely prescribed by them. , I have used it very successfully in my own practice on patients whose eyes were strained through over-work or misfit glasses. I can highly recommend it in case of weak, watery, aching, smarting, itching, burning eyes, red lids, blurred vision or for eyes inflamed from exposure to smoke, sun, dust or wind. It is one of the very few preparations I feel should be kept on hand for regular use in almost every family." Bon-Opto is not a patent medicine or secret remedy. It is an ethical preparation, the formula being printed on the package. The manufacturers guarantee it to strengthen eyesight 60 per cent in one week's time in many Instances, or refund the money. It is dispensed by all good druggists in this city, including the A. G. Luken Co., and all other prominent druggists. Adv.

twice what they brought on the same market a year ago last February. Hogs are the highest price in the history of the business. The temptation to market immature atock and breeding stock is great. But It means a dangerous shortage . next fall and winter and a tremendous loss to the farmer In future years. "It is the producer, the farmer, and the distributor, the railroads, which have largely broken down. We manufacturers can easily double our output. Our own plants, for instance, are now running only 43 per cent of our present capacity. . Food Reports Alarm Him. "More Immediate is the question of a greater supply of wheat and other foodstuffs. Government crop reports show an alarming amount of damage done to wheat now in the ground .by winter killing. Where that damage does not exceed 40 to 50 per cent the sewing of spring wheat on the damaged fields doubtless would result in the harvesting of a profitable crop. The temptation is, of course, to plow up the damaged fields and plant them in corn. But we greatly need the wheat. "We manufacture fertilizers, but that does not prevent me from saying that if farmers would put a top dressing of fertilizer on their winter wheat fields they could increase thoir crop from 10 per cent up per acre. Let the government fix the price at which the necessary fertilizer shall be sold. Farmers, Be Patriots. "There should be a vastly increased crop of spring wheat sowed. Farmers all through the great spring wheat belt of the northwest should be persuaded and urged, as a patriotic duty, to double their acreage in wheat. There is still time to save the situation so far as wheat is concerned during tho present crop year. No one need fear, even if the government does not guarantee him the minimum price, that he will fail to find his wheat crop profit able. The world must have bread. "Patriotic women who wish to do something vital for their country immediately should establish a regimen of strict economy in the household. If people who now waste ' foodstuffs would stop that waste prices would he lowered and there would be more than
enough to go round among the whole population." Home on War Bull. "At our house," put in Vice President G. B. Robbins of Armour & Co., have potatoes on the table no other vegetable shall be served. Not more than one vegetable at a meal is permitted. And we are making similar economies in meats." "The people of the United States," went on Mr. Armour, . "are not . yet awake to the deadly seriousness of the situation they are facing. Whether we went into the war or not we were certain to feel its effects and to suffei from them. Now that we are actually at war we must rouse ourselves from the lethargy into which we have fallen. "Equally patriotic is the man who enlists in the army or who, by making an extra effort, by undergoing extra exertion and even hardship, raises
