One of the charming social functions of the early spring-time was the informal musacle given Friday afternoon by Miss Mildred Schalk at her home on North Eighteenth street, in honor cf her house-guest. Miss Emma Doeppers of Indianapolis and Miss Carolyn Hutton of this city. Musical numbers were given by Miss Doeppers, Miss Hutton, Miss Ruth Pelt. Mrs. Fred Bartel, Mrs. F. W. When the tea was served, each cup bore a dainty handpainted butterfly which announced the engagement of Miss Carolyn Hutton to Mr. Ellwood Grlest of Lancaster. Pennsylvania. This announcement came as a surprise to most of Miss Hutton's friends. Miss Hutton is one of the popular young women in Richmond and a very talented violinist Miss Hutton is a graduate of high rchool, has attended Earlham college cn the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
