How About That House You're Going to Build?

The importance of deciding upon the best material cannot be over-estimated. You want something which will be both durable and lasting. Of all the building materials, there is only one which is absolutely durable concrete. If you decide on concrete as the building material you want to use, you should be sure and get the right land of Portland cement. There are so many kinds of Portland cement, that it is essential that you get one which you can be sure will always produce satisfactory and uniform results. JBHB will give you satisfaction because it is ground fine enough to give a most perfect binding power, and - is tested at frequent intervals for its quality and uniformity. Let us figure t on your requirements. Hackman-Klehfoth & Co. 2015 Phones 2016

New Style Double House Built by Miller-Kemper

In the new residence property built at Twentythird and Main streets for Elizabeth Crome, MillerKemper company has originated a new type of double houses. From all outside appearances, the attractive structure of veneered brick and stucco is a single house. Yet, it is divided to accommodate two families and guarantee privacy to each. There is only one door in the front wall. This leads into a neat vestibule from which entrance into the two living apartments may be gained. As may be seen from the Eicture above, the lower alf of the outer walls is made from venerred brick. The second story walls are made of stucco on metal lath.

The west half of the building contains eight rooms and a bath. This t apartment will be occupied ' permanently by the owner. The east half contains six rooms and a bath. It will be rented. In the west section, the third floor has been fitted up for two bed rooms, while in the east half the attic was not finished. From the central vestibule in front, entrance may begained to the two living rooms. These rooms are spacious and-have large tile fireplaces. The dining rooms have built-in china closets. Cupboards are built-in in the? kitchens. Ice may be placed in the refrigerators from a rear porch. Stair cases to the second floors, lead from the dining rooms. In each section, there are three bed rooms

and a bath on the second floor. The structure was designed by Miller-Kemper company which held the general contract for construction. The electrical work was done by the Crane Electric company. Irvin Reed and Son furnished the glass and hardware. , John Niewoehner did the plumbing work. . Only latest fixtures were used. The heating system is of the hot air furnace type. The plastering work was done by Joe Mullen. The sand finish was used in part of the rooms. Like all other buildings erected in Richmond during the past year which have been featured on this page, t the structure is a monument to local labor and home products.
