Many believe that the gas mask was an invention of the present war, but they are wrong. When the Germans introduced the' use of poisonous gases In attack, the Allies at first were unable to cope with their deadliness. After a few such attacks, however, war turned to industry and there found the means of nullifying the use of poisonous gas by the use of the gas mask. Gas masks have been used In many industries for many years. The picture shows how young women employed in handling dangerous chemicals at the Bush Terminal, New York, wear ' masks which protect them from deadly fumes and 6parks.

GOOD BLOOD Given good, clean, healthy blood, Nature will do the rest with any case of catarrh, inflammatory rheumatism, scrofula, eczema, erysipelas, boils, pimples, or skin djiaeases of any kind. Good blood invariably means vigorous appetite, good digestion and strength. Thus it stands to reason that .an effective "alterative" or blood purifier, while it will not cure all diseases, will help in fighting any disease, and will relieve those mentioned above, all of which comes from bad blood. Forty years ago Dr. A. B. Simpson of Richmond, Ind., was known as one of the most successful physicians in three states. His success was founded almost exclusively on one prescription, the most powerful blood puri'ler ever known. This prescription is regularly put up as Dr. A. B. Simpson's Vegetable Compound. It has been used extensively all over the country, and in forty years has never failed to do good. Simpson's Vegetable Compound is harmless as it is effective. It is sold at $1 per bottle at all drug stores. Adv.
