HIGH CENTRALIZED VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
CEXTERVILLE, Ind.; March 23 County Superintendent Williams favors the erection of one,, two, three or four vocational nigh schools at Centervllle last night. The meeting was largely attended by persons from Center and adjoining townships. Opens Educational Campaign. This meeting was the official launching of an educational campaign whicty will be, conducted in Wayne county in the next two months. Every person in the county will be given an opportunity to hear the vocational high school propositions discussed. Mass meetings will be held in all principal towns of the county. After all plans for the establishment of vocational high schools in the county have been thoroughly discussed and considered by the people, large mass meetings at which definite action will be taken and petitions compiled wiU be held. . Permit No Resolutions. , County school authorities would permit no resolutions to be acted upon at the meeting last night, saying that the vocational high school propositions have not been considered thor
oughly enough for any definite action to be taken yet. - ; C'enterville has' made the first proposition to have a consolidated vocational high school for the entire county established near Centerville. Attorney Wilfred Jessup spoke at the meeting. He presented the proposition he has made in communications 'o both local papers. THRIFT IS TAUGHT BY PRESENT WAR

United States Ambassador Francis, held unofficial conferences today with Prof. Milukoff and President Rodzlanko of the Duma, both of whom . he knows personally. The children of the Eastern Star who were to have met for rehearsal Saturday afternoon at the Masonic Temple are asked not to meet. Mrs. Charles Hanes who is . in. charge hat postponed the rehearsal until later. The children are asked to heed the announcement. Mrs. Hanes fs planning for an entertainment to be given in the near future in which the drill by the children will be a feature. .

Gygli Affixes Name to Paper of Quaker Club
Frank Gygli, first Backers, last year with Terre Haute, is in the Richmond fold. Manager Bade Byers received Qygli's signed contract this morning. Gygli is living at Columbus, O., but will report here early In April. , The acquisition of the former Terre Haute initial sacker removed one worry from the mind of Manager Myers. Gygli. Bade Myers idea 6f a model first baseman, is no slouch. Well over the six-foot mark in height and with a reach second to none in Central circles, the ex-Hottentot should just about fit into the Quaker lineup. Gygli, it is to be remembered led the Central in baserunning last year. With his 6tick he performed better than the average. His presence should help the Richmond team a whole lot.
3,000 NAVAL RECRUITS TO ENTER TRAINING
(By Associated Press) CHICAGO, March 22. The Great Lakes Naval Training station at Lake Bluff today has 2,500 men in training, according to Captain W. A. Moffett, the commander. This is one thousand more than the plant can readily care for, but under orders from the navy department the accommodations have been pressed to the limit Commander Moffett said, he intended to ask permission to increase the capacity of the station, so that 3,000 men may be placed in training at once.

Representatives of nearly all the literary organizations of the country, met at the National Arts Club last night to celebrate the eightieth birthday of William Dean Howells. Among the messages of congratulation were letters from President Wilson and Theodbre Roosevelt. These messages, numbering more than one hundred, will be bound and presented to Mr. Howells. The recipient of these honors is spending the winter at Tryon, N. C, and did not attend the meeting.
