BLOOM RELEASED; CONFESSES GUILT TO LARCENY COUNT William R. Bloom, proprietor of a bar and hotel on North Sixth street, was permitted to go free on his own recognizance after he had entered a plea of guilty to a charge of receiving money under false pretenses and grand larceny in circuit court today. Bloom promised to pay back money he is alleged to have received illegally. Jerry Rhodes, formerly a bartender in a saloon operated by Bloom, was arrested with Bloom but was released from custody upon turning state's evidence. According to the prosecutor, Bloom and Rhodes got John Morris, a butcher, into the 6aloon late in February and asked him to lend them $100. Morris consented to advance $10. Rhodes is accused of writing out the check for $100 instead of for $10 and it is alleged that Morris signed it. The check was made payable to Rhodes. The check was honored. It is alleged that Bloom received the money. RUSH EVANS CASE SETTLEMENT NOW City Attorney Bond reported today that all details connected with the dismissal of the Evans appeal have been disposed of and that he will make efforts to get Attorney Wilfred Jessup to draw the decree some time this week. The appeal was from the award of the board of public works for damages caused by the opening of South G street. A compromise was effected through the efforts of the South Side Improvement association. TWO RICHMOND WOMEN RECEIVE A. B. DEGREES

LOCATION OF PLANT COMPLICATES LOCAL SERVANT PROBLEM

Richmond housewives are viewing the proposed tobacco factory location here with hostile glance, according to Secretary Haas of the Commercial club. The establishment of the Louis New. burg company's branch here will require employment of 100 to 125 colored girls and women. This will take the services of nearly every available colored woman in town, it is believed, and render the servant problem more acute.

A representative of the Newberg

company will be here within a few days to discuss the situation with Secretary Haas. The company is anxious to purchase a site here and commence operations soon. Walter Dennis, who is enlisting help for the plant, says he has more than 75 colored women on his list.
