Prison Laborers to Repair Roads For Detouring
Prisoners in the county jail will be worked on county roads, starting Monday, Road Superintendent Jones, reported today. Roads in Jackson and Center townships which will be used as detour
routes during the summer while - the
National highway is being cemented, will be the first to receive attention. All detour routes will be north of the National road. Next week will be de
voted, to widening the College Corner road near the Caleb Harvey farm one
mile west and one mile north of Centerville. Contractor Kirkpatrick will start grading the road east of Centerville next week. The work will be done with the aid of a traction engine. All drainage ditches have already been laid. Several cars of concrete to be used in the work have been shipped, the contractor reported yesterday afternoon while here attending to a few details connected with the contracts. - .

Dickinson Store Holds Birthday
Sixty-seven years ago today, the Dickinson Jewelry store opened, for business for the first time. It Is now the oldest store In Richmond, and one of the two oldest jewelry store3 in Indiana. Robert B. Dickinson founded the store in an old buildirg on the site where the Schaefer grocery Ltore now stands. In 1854, the store was moved to 523 Main stree"t where it is now located. A new building was erected several years' afterwards to accommodate Increased patronage. Ten years aso, O. B., Dickinson, son of . Robert B., took chrge of the business. It was the custom in 1870, in keeping with English fashions, to keep the front of jewelry stores .closed with heavy "shutters after business hours. One Sunday night, while the watchman was at church, burglars loaded ell contents of the store on a wagon at the rear End escaped.
