. Knitting parties are all the fad these days and Miss Eleanor Seidel proved a charming host ess this afternoon when she took this means of extending a courtesy to Mrs. Roberta Rose Allen of Cincinnati, who is the guest of Mrs. Joseph Conner. The function was given at the Seidel home, South Eighteenth street. Spring flowers and ferns were in evidence in the . apartments. Later in the afternoon a delicious collation in courses was served.' For members of the. Thursday auction-bridge club, Mrs. Ray K. Sniveler gave a luncheon at 1
o'clock at the Country club today. Covers were laid for eight guests. The annual ' spring ball given by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Kolp has been announced for Monday evening, April 9 An orchestra will play the order of dances. Friday evening the last assembly party will be given by Mr. and Mrs. Kolp in the Odd Fellows Hall. The young people of the city are invited.

Miss Eva Nelson entertained members of the Jolly Twelve club last evening at her home, Richmond avenue. Rev. H. S. James. The affair was in the nature of a surprise. Two hundred and fifty guests enjoyed the evening with its various amusements. After the picnic supper a short program arranged for by Mrs. O. P. Lewis, president of the society was , given. Mr. Fred White, superintendent of -the Sunday school presented Mr. James with a handsomely bound book. "Standard Dictionary: of Facts"- as a gift from the Young Men's Bible class. Short talks were made by Mrs. Waldo Lacey, "Good Cheer" Class, Mrs. O. P. Lewis, Christian Endeavor; - Mrs.
Frank Weaver, "Our Aid Society;" Miss Theresa Crebb, "Our Intermediates" and Mrs, H. S. James, , "Our Home Department" . Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor, charter members of the church gave interesting accounts telling of, the -progress the church has made. Other charter members present included Mrs. Gross. Miss Ethel Critzer, Mrs. Frank Weaver and Mrs. A. L. Reid. '"' A rocker, the gift of the Endeavor society and a large birthday cake baked by Albert Reber, from the Junior and Intermediate departments were presented to the pastor. American flags formed the principal decorations. A feature of the evening was the song composed by Mrs. Lewis and dedicated to Rev. Mr. James. a Six girls sang the song. The Richmond Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet 1 Saturday afternoon with Mrs. Fred White at her apartments in the Arden. - , The public is invited to attend the recital which will be given this evening at the High school auditorium by Miss Laura Gaston, head of the Music department at the college.
