STRIKE WOULD PARALYZE LOCAL PLANTS WITHIN SHORT TIME
Richmond will be paralyzed Industrially If the railroad strike la called Saturday night. Several of the largest factories will be forced to suspend operation Immediately If It is impossible for them to get shipments of fuel and crude materials. City Light Plant has fully prepared for the strike. Superintendent Clarence Klelnknecbt announced today that by Satuday night, at least 1,000 tons of coal will be stored at the plant. At present, 800 tons are in the bins and seven cars are waiting to be unloaded. This would last twenty-five days. "This is the best condition the plant baa been In as far as coal is concerned for the past six months," said the superintendent today. Coal Dealers Are Prepared. Retail coal dealers reported that they have planned for the strike and

have supplies sufficient to last through two months of nice spring weather and two weeks of very cold weather. Factories have been handicapped all winer because of the car shortage and
have found it impossible to. lay in any extra supplies of materials or fuel. Officials of the United Refrigerator company announced today that it will be necessary to 6hut down the factory if the coal supply Is cut off. Clarence Gennett of the Starr Piano company announced that his company would have to suspend operation if the strike cuts off shipments of lumber and coal. Can't Obtain Supplies. "We have had no trouble in shipping finished products out during the past few months because they are light and because of the high freight rates re
quired for our stocks but we have had trouble in getting cars for lumber and coal," said Mr. Gennett.. "This has made it impossible to lay in any extra supplies." American Seeding Machine company will probably be able to operate for at least two weeks if shipping is suspended. E. B. Clements of the Wayne Works announced that this factory could probably keep running two weeks after shipments are euspended. The coal supply presents the big problem for this company.
A. J. Harwood announced that the Richmond Underwear factory could probably be kept in operation two weeks after shipments are suspended. The coal supply would be' exhausted at the end of this time although there are enough other materials on hand to run the factory thirty days. F. & N. Lawnmower factory receives most of its power from current furnished by the city light plant and would be able to keep in operation as long as current could be furnished, officials said. Officials of the Dille, McGuIre Lawn-
mower ' company ' stated that, they thought it would, be possible to keep the factory In operation despite the strike. ' -.. " It seems to be the general opinion among factory operators that the strike will be averted. Taxi lines started today laying In extra supplies of gasoline in preparation for the strike. If traffic is tied up a few. days, there will be a complete famine of motor fuel. Lay in Extra Supplies. Food prices in Richmond have not yet been affected by the threatened
nation-wide railroad strike. Housewives are laying in extra supplies of staples. Extensive use will be made of intenirban lines by Richmond whole sale lines if the strike Is declared. During the railroad car shortage this winter, they have used the intenirban lines extensively. If the strike goes into effect beans and sugar will last only one or 'two days. Vegetables and fresh meats w ill' be depleted almost at once. - - Grocers estimate their supplies- of canned goods will hold out anywhere from two weeks to a month.

OLEVEK -No. 1
IMPROVED SEAT GUIDE
This cultivator is one that can be used in all conditions of ground
warn equal success, sandy or clay sou, whether there many weeds. You do good work without trreat effort
self. It is particularly adapted to uprooting large weeds treating where the ground is full of quack grass.
The parallel gangs make it impossible for the operator to unintentionally swing one of them and root out a hill of corn; he can operate successfully by watching only one gang. They alsrr allow a wider range of movement because the rear of the gang moving in parallel motion with the front can be adjusted closer to the wheel, giving greater movement to dodge corn. . ' ' ' The pole and seat guide offer a . special' advantage when cultivating hilly ground and in operating on level ground the gangs can be set to penetrate a certain depth and you may know that the gangs are operating at Just that depth. This is by far the most practical single row cultivator made and we suggest that you call and examine it at our salesroom.

The JAME OLIEM No. 11 Sulky Plow
This plow is particularly adapted for plowing around large land asjssell as small fields. . It enables the driver to make SQUARE turns at . comers with the plow in the ground. It makes it unnecessary to divide a field into lands, thus eliminating unnecessary back ridges and dead furrows. The reason why this No. 11 can be turned suc- . cessfully while in the ground cutting its fujl depth is
its short wheel base. It plows the corners just as deep as it does when going in a straight line. Many farmers do not like the ground at the corners trampled by horses and with this plow there is no occasion to ever have hoof tracks on the plowed ground. The rolling landslide relieves the pressure on the furrow bank, making for light draft. This plow has all the latest improvements and is highly recommended on account of the absence of complicated parts. See This Plow in Our Display Room
Equipped with Combination Rolling Coulter and Jointer and 3 Horse Equalizer.

The Stover Throttle Governing Kerosene Engine la not an attachment to replace a gasoline mixer on a hit-and-miss engine and use keroaene, but consists of a different governor, mixer, heating chamber, with automatic fuel control, which must be built into the engine, The engine explodes a charge every working stroke, the governor graduating the amount of fuel and air taken into the cylinder in proportion to the load being pulled. To burn keroaene successfully. the engine must be kept at an even temperature and to form a gas from kerosene requires wholly different methods than wften using gasoline. To accomplish thia it was necessary to completely change the method of governing to obtain an even temperature in tho cylinder. The speed regulation 'is very close, making it an Ideal engine for electrio lightine or other power purpeses. where a uniform apeed is required, Bee same demonstrated at once..-;
