SOCIETY'S MEETING PLAGE
; Although the day was a dreary one, the beautifully appointed ; luncheon given today at 1 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Albert D. : Gayle, South Sixteenth street added materially to the day's social -schedule. This was one of the pretty informal affairs of the lenten season. Instead of spending the afternoon at the bridge tables as .Mis the usual custom at these functions the afternoon was spent 'knitting. Spring flowers and ferns appointed the table and other suggestive harbingers of the spring time were also in evidence in -the rooms. Covers were laid for Mrs. Jeannette G. Leeds, Mrs. ::Rudolph G. A study of the constitution was a feature of the afternoon. - The meeting closed with singing, "America." Mrs. Elizabeth Haughton gave the benediction. The next meeting will be held in two weeks at the MorrissonReeves library. The Daughters of America will meet Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock in the Vaughan hall Instead of meeting at 8 o'clock as the members of the Aid society of the First Baptist church will present the "Old Peabody Pew." Professor Harlow Llndley will make the address this evening when a meeting of the Parent-Teachers association of the Garfield school will be held at 7:30 o'clock at the school. All members and patrons of the school are invited. Miss Edna Marlatt will have charge of the music. The girls' chorus will sing, "The Oak and The Ash," and "Spring Time." The old-fashioned social which was to have been given this evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Woodhurst for all members of the First M. E. church has been postponed indefinitely on account of the weather. Mrs. L. A. Mote of Memphis, Tennessee, who has been spending some time here left today for Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she will be the guest of Rev. and Mrs. R. M. McNemer. Last evening a large and appreciative audience enjoyed the play, "The
Old Peabody Pew" presented at the Joseph Moore school by the members of the Aid society of the Second English Lutheran church. Twenty-seven dollars was made. The Aid desires to thank the High School orchestra and band for their assistance. The music added materially to the success of the affair. Many old-fashioned and Quaint costumes were in evidence. Mrs. Walter Fowler of Cincinnati, is the guest of her father, Mrs. John Hagecoster and other relatives In this city. Friday evening, March 23, the Aid society of the Second English Lutheran church of this city will present "The Old Peabody Pew" at the Friends church In Fountain City. The Aid will also give the play for the
church. The Joy Bearers of the Trinity Lutheran church, will not meet this evening at the home of the Misses Deuker. The meeting has been deferred one week. Mrs. J. J. Rae was hostess Monday afternoori('for a meeting of the Ticknor club at her home, North Thirteenth street. Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Barnard of Indianapolis, with Mrs. Walter G. Butler were guests of the club., Mrs. D. L. Mather, gave current events. After the program an Infomal tea was held. Mrs. Mary Grant entertains the club next week at her home, South Eighth street. Miss Miriam Kelley has returned from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she spent a week visiting with friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kirkman who have been residing on North Tenth street, are leaving next week for their farm near Whitewater.

Members of Circle Number 2 of the aid society f the First Presbyterian church, will be entertained Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Charles Flook, South Seventeenth street. This afternoon Miss Martha Doan gave a tea at the College for the Day Dodger girls and their mothers. Several of the girls assisted the hostess. Mr. Howard Reid of New York, arrived today and will remain in the city until after his marriage to Miss Sarah Addington, Tuesday, March 20. Wednesday afternoon Mrs. B. C. Wi'ckett will entertain members of the Modern Priscilla Thimble club at her home, 230 Linden avenue.
