Eighty per cent of these samples were more or less acid, and the indications are that ever county in the state contains thousands of acres of land that would show excellent results from liming. "If a soil is in need cf lime neither the application of, manure, fertilizer, good cultivation, drainage, nor any other helpful treatment can give the

best results. Clover 2nd the other legumes', rrtich are anions the nicst important, factors in building up and maintaining soil fertility,, cannot develop properly on soil? lacking in the proper lime unseen and unthought cf by many tillers of the soil, nevertheless deserve a large place in the consideration of soil management. It is through these life" activities within the soil that a goodly portion of the plant foods of the soil are made available for the growth of ordinary farm crops.
