WHEAT DEVELOPS
WEAKNESS TODAY AFTER EARLY TRADE
(By Associated Press) CHICAGO, March 7. Wheat developed 'weakness today after a show of strength at the start. Offerings early were light and it took but little buying to lift prices, but on the upturn realizing sales by holders became heavy and the market fell short owing to lack of support and because of snow in the west, where moisture has been ehort. Considerable uncertainty was evident regarding what would be indicated by the government report tomorrow on farm reserves. Opening prices, which ranged from to lc higher with May at $1.91 to $1.91 and July at $1.59 to $1.60 were followed by slight further gains and then a set back all around to below yesterday's finish. Corn sagged with wheat The decline; however, did not take place until after the market. Influenced by a new jump In the value of hogs, had arisen to slightly above yesterday's high record level. After opening Vz to
14 up, prices hardened a little more and then receded to well under yesterday's closing figures. Oats were governed by the action of wheat and corn. Demand was only of a scattered sort. Gossip that recent advances had been too rapid led to easier quotations on provisions. Fresh up turns in the hog market seemed to have no effect.
