RECONSIDER HIGHWAY BILL ON MOTION IN LEGISLATURE

(Br Associated Press) INDIANAPOLIS, March 2. Lieutenant-Governor Bush this morning declared out of order the proceedings of last evening, vnich would hare tabled a motion to reconsider the vote concurring In the amendments made by the Hons of Representatives, on the Dobyns highway commission bill. Another motion to reconsider the vote was made and sustained. In commitee of the whole the Senate amended the regular appropriations bin by adding $7,000 to the allowance for the Southern Insane Hospital at Evansvflle, so as to Increase the per capita, allowance from $175 to $185. The office of second assistant to the attorney-general was stricken from the bill and an attempt to reconsider the vote failed. This abolishes a. $3,000 job. The appropriation for the national guard was doubled on motion of Senator Van Auken, the figures being increased from $100,000 to $200,000. House Kills Simmonds BIN. The House killed Senator Simmonds bill providing for increase of salaries of judges of the supreme and appellate court from $6,000 to $7,500. The judiciary A committee, recom-

JOBBERS TO DISCUSS REBATING OF FARES

Richmond jobbers will consider rebating fares to customers who come to Richmond to buy their godds, in a smoker to be held a week from tonight. Announcements were sent to members of the jobbing division of the Commercial club today. Under the rebate plan retailers are invited to visit the wholesale bouses and place their orders instead of giving them to salesmen. The travelers receive their commissions on such sales, however. Plans for other trade campaigns also will be discussed at the smoker.

MONEY MARKET HOLDS STEADY

(By Associated Press) . LONDON, March 2. The comfortable condition of the money market indicates the skill with which war loan funds are being transferred to the Bank of England and then released for the market Short loans were plentiful and discount' rates easy today. The stock market, though generally firm, showed no business expansion. Rubber stocks, the war loan, consols and home rails comprised the limited transactions recorded. Consols recovered the dividend deduction. Shipping shares were dull and South American issues further weakened. Only a few markings occurred in the low priced American securities. The others were neglected.

NAVY GETS RECRUITS

(By Associated Press) WASHINGTON, March 2. Reports from all sections of the United States show that the recruiting campaign being conducted by the navy department is having greater. results than at any time since the Spanish war. In 26 recruiting days up to February 28, the roster of the navy was increased by 2,086 men; in one week the gain was 901 men.

ATTEMPT TO MAKE FLIGHT FROM EUROPE

VIENNA, March l: (via London. March 2) Herr Fokker, the builder of one of the most successful military flying machines used in the German and Austrian armies, predicts an era of aerial passenger traffic after the war. Speed, he says Is bound to make aircraft a popular vehicle of travel, but on great distances for which reason , the inventor predicts the successful operation of air craft on routes between Europe and the United States which will run competition with trans-Atlantic liners.Herr Fokker believes the first attempt to fly from Europe to New York will be made immediately after the war and asserts the route can be traveled in two days at the outside. He is of the opinion that all technical handicaps will be easily overcome. Welsh coal owners have refused the workmen's application for a new audit of their books to regulate wages.
