Alfred C. Underbill filed petition in Wayne circuit court Wednesday for a change of venue In his 120,000 damage suit for personal injuries against Clem Carr, McClelland White . and John Weidenback. He asked that it be sent to Randolph county. Judge Fox took the case under advisement Underbill declared., that; certain prejudices exist against him in this county which might prevent him from getting a fair trail.. .. HYPNOTIZE WITNESS SAYS WALTER LEWIS IN MAGAZINE STORY
hypnotism of tea perverts Justice to courts," declares Walter Lewis deputy prosecuting attorney, in a thesis dealing with the lawyer's use of suggestion which" he "has prepared upon 'request fOr a "psychological magazine. While a student In Indiana university, Lewis spent much time experimenting wit hthe queer science under the direction of Prof. E. H. Llndley, a noted psychologist " In referring to the word hypnotism in his article, Lewis does not mean that a person must be "put. to ( sleepIn' a manner portrayed so often on the Stage. He uses the word to mean,' "get
ting a person in a state: of. mind to accept suggestions as . his. own thoughts. . . , ' A person Is more easily hypnotized under certain conditions. The-dignity of the court and the excitement which naturally surrounds a case,, makes a witness susceptible to accept a lawr yer's suggestion carefully hidden ' in the question. Then the answer will be what the attorney wants it to be. Expert judges realize the part hyp
notism plays, and., guard against sug gesttve questions made by attorneys.
The third degree is an application of
Hypnotic principles, says the article.

Diamonds
Under present-market conditions It Is particularly Important . to be ultra-critical about the quality of any. diamond you may purchase. The rapid and phenomenal advances In the price of rough dla-. moods have encouraged the offering of the lower grade stones. We wish to reiterate the statement that we have not permitted market conditions to Influence our diamond policy. Only first-class stones will be found here and due to fortunate purchases, prices are the same as they were before the recent advances. We nrge a comparison of goods and prices. 0. E.
