Sixty-three applications for final naturalization papers have been filed at the county clerk's office ' since the break of diplomatic relations with Germany. CITY OEATII RATE INCREASES TO 17.1 FOR LAST MONTH

Michigan City was the healthiest place In Indiana in which to live last month. Hammond was the unhealtbiest State Health Board figures Bhow the death rate to have been 10.3 in Michigan City and 22.1 In Hammond. Richmond, with a death rate of 17.1, ranked thirteenth among Indiana cities. Following Is a record of the cities' death rates: Michigan City, 10.3; South Bend, 10.4; Ft. Wayne, 13.2; Terre Haute, 14; Marlon. 14.8; Elkhart, 15.6; East Chicago, 15.6; Evansv&le, 15.8; Munde. 15.9; Gary, 16.2; New Albany, 16.5; Logansport, 17; Richmond, 17.1; Indianapolis. 17.4; Anderson. 18.2; Lafayette, 19.3; Kokomo, 19.7; Hammond, 22.1. Death rate for the state was 14.9. The rural rate was 13.6 agd the urban rate, 16.4. The birthrate was 22.5 for each 1,000 of population. There were 5,514 births and 3,666 deaths. Measles was the most prevalent disease in the state during the month. It was followed In order by diphtheria, scarlet fever, Influenza, and tonsflitis. START CANNING FACTORY

He leaves a wife, four sons, Arthur, Samuel, Thomas and Horace and one daughter.
