NEUTRAL INTERESTS MUST NOT MUDDLE GERMANY'S CHANGES
LONDON, Jan. 19. A statement that neutral interests shall not be allowed to interfere with Germany's straggle for victory was made at the opening of the Prussian diet yesterday by Herr Friedberg, leader of the national liberal party, according to an Amsterdam dispatch to Renters. Herr Friedberg was one of a number of poakers who urged a vigorous proseotiMcm of the war and increased submarine activity. He said:
"Wf must expect from every neutral that he does not lay stress on his own Interests where for us it is a fight for existence. Such interests must not prevent ur from gaining a peace that will satisfy German aspirations and safeguard the world from new and similar catas trophies." Paul Breitenbach, Prussian minister of public works, who made a Bpeech along similar lines, Bald: "The gigantic events of the war necessarily affect state machinery. The government and parliament must come to an understanding and a settlement but there can be no question that the entire machinery needs a fundamental change. We demand that everybody does his utmost for the fulfillment of his dnty in order to help onr armies to victory." ANOTHER VESSEL LOST
MADRID, Via Paris, Jan. 18. The Spanish steamer Manuel, 2,419 tons, i of Bilbao has been sunk by a submarine. The crew was rescued by the Swedish steamer Karl.
The Shoe That Sets the Pace Nowhere in fine footwear are fashions, fads and fancies shown in wider variety than in these smart shoes that set the pace in the race for novelty effects.
