By Anna Pavlowa The world's premier , exponent of gracefulness la dancing.) ARTICLE VI. HITHERTO, while I have talked requested you to execute those to you about motion, I have motions while standing In one spot, and I well know how Irksome this type of exercise become if persisted In too long. Still, It It the best way to get each part f tho body to Work under the command of your will But, now that the rue ni hers of your physical household have learned to work faithfully and harmonl- , eu.ily. I shall suggest that you combine some of the previous exercises Into a swinging, rhythmiu movement or dance. Tour body has been working under the stimulus of the will. Now the time of your movements will be rrsnlaed by the time of the music, ko take out your phonograph and ' put In a record In two-step time of a not too ragged variety. Slep forward on the right foot and bend the left knee upward. x S. Hop on ' the right foot - and raise the left arm as In the first exercise. I. Step forward on the left foot and. raise the right arm. 5. Hop on tho left foot. This has used two measures of music, besides the first position, which has taken upon the second beat of a presending measure After you have advanced as. far ss you room apace will all do these steps and hops backward. But the position of the backward steps Is that of the fifth exercise, which I hope you wilt do with ease. it has been my aim In this little series to show the benefits of body control, as well as to suggest a few simple means to that end. And those who have made a special study of this subject have found that It Is the pliable body that achieves most under the present conditions Of living. And the pliable body Is shown in Its graceful action, an action which proceeds so smoothly that while it 'occasionally' aids. It never hampers that constant ventilation of the body which Is called breathing.
the farm with his mother when bis father and all the other men hurried to Lawrence to form a company to resist the Indians. Benajah Hiatt stayed behind and took food to the women and children on horseback. Quantrill's band took his fine pony and Hiatt found that the neighbors would starve if he did not quickly get food to them. So he went, shoeless and hatless, to Quan trill and told him that he was feeding the families, of both Republicans and Democrats, and that the raiders had accidently taken his pony. Quantrill admitted his spirit and gave him the pony and another saddle. Coffin, who did not like this life, and like Hiatt, would not fight, was in the Indian mission at the time and later returned to Wayne county. Brown Was Also Neighbor. Another interesting neighbor of the Codys and Hiatts was John Brown of "John Brown's body" fame. Mr. Hiatt knew the youth well who caused John Brown to go down in history, It was Brown's son, Dan. The Democrats of Missouri, who were slave holders, met the boy and on being informed that he was the son of the ardent Republican of Kansas, struck him with a heavy bridle so hard he was killed. Coffin and Hiatt wete cousins and brothers-in-law, having married sisters. They were sons of Levi Coffin and Mordecai Hiatt, the men who founded the underground railway for assisting negroes to escape to Canada.

HIATT RECALLS MANY INTIMATE NARRATIVES ABOUT EAfiLY LIFE OF LATE COLONEL CODY
Benajah Hiatt. a brother of Willlam J. Hiatt and uncle of Edgar F. Hiatt, president of the Dickinson Trust company, was a neighbor and friend of the famous scout and showman, "Buffalo Bill" Cody, who died early this week. Bonajah Hiatt, who died four years ago at his home across the read from the Cody homestead in the Salt Creek valley between "Topeka and Leavenworth, Kansas, left many interesting frontier stories in Richmond involving the Cody family. William J. Hiatt, who remembers the stories best, disagrees with Cody's biographers and says William Frederick Cody, the scout, was born near Newark, Ohio, and when a baby, passed through Richmond in a wagon with his family, on their way to Kansas. Would Stop Raiding. "My brother and William H. Coffin took claims near the Indiana Yearly meeting Indian Mission and Cody took
his claim across the road," said William F. Hiatt, today. "Buffalo Bill had experiences with the Indians from the first. It was Quantrill's band which caused him to vow that he would stop the raiding and give the settlers peace." Buffalo Bill's first stop in Richmond .was at the Phillips theatre, when it was new, and the old Huntington hotel at Seventh and Main streets, when it was at its best. "I sent my card up to Mr. Cody. My
brother had told me that he was a wild ! looking young man but a fine gentle
man, and I found him to be such," said Mr. Hiatt. "Later, at the Chicago World's fair he met me and told me the grounds were mine, to go where I pleased." Cody was too young to fight when Quantrill first brought his raiders up Salt Creek valley and he was left on
