MUTILATED CORPSE IDENTIFIED AS RICH PREBLE LAND OWNER

HOLLANSBURG, 0., Dec. 29. The body of a man which was found Wednesday in a woods north of here after it had been mutilated by hogs and fire was identified last night as that of John B. Everding, aged 70, a wellknown farmer who disappeared from the home of his son, W. H. Everding, six miles northwest of Eaton, Sunday night. The deceased man was owner of 200 acres of land. It is reported that he had periodical attacks of mental weakness. People in Eaton saw the story about the body being found in last night's paper and called the son's attention to it. He came here and identified the body. It will be taken to Eaton for burial.

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 29. The Philadelphia North American prints the following: "After Jan. 1 newspapers of this city will be paying nearly 60 per cent more for their supply of news print paper than they paid this year. This advance, which is general throughout the country, is announced by manufacturers who are making contracts for 1917. "With virtually all materials going into the making of a newspaper showing a similar advance, publishers are facing a serious problem. The newspapers which use 40,000 tons a year must pay $960,000 more for paper in 1917 than it did this year. For the smaller papers, the increase in cost will run up to $120,000 and $130,000 a year. It is estimated that the advance in price will cost the newspapers of Chicago $2,000,000 more in 1917 than in 1916, and the increase in New York will be at least $3,000,000, and proportionately in every town and village in the country. "Hope has been held out that the federal trade commission would be able to remedy conditions through its inquiry into the paper industry. So far. however, the commission has been unable to do anything, and probably will not be able to do anything."
