FIRE- INSIDE WALLS BURNS TWO HOURS BEFORE DISCOVERY CENTERVILLE, Ind., Dec. 27. The play given by the Christian Endeavor Friday evening proved to be one of the enjoyable -entertainments of the season, although the exceedingly bad weather kept many away, yet the hall was well filled and everyone was not only-pleased but surprised at some of the amateur players; "Christmas at Finnegans Flat," kept the audience in roars of laughter, and "Pat and Biddy Finnegan" won the hearts of their listeners before they were half through the first act. The Friends" entertainment Saturday evening was unusually good, and most of the program was given by the very tinest tots, who fearlessly faced the audience and gave their numbers. The decorations were beautiful, and necessitated quite a little work and expense. Mrs. Lena King and John Moulton and family spent the holidays with friends at Parker, Ind. Smoke Causes Alarm. While John L. King's were entertaining a number of friends to a dinner party on Christmas day they noticed smoke in the house, but thinking it came from the sitting room, in which some of the men had been smoking they gave it little .heed. After two hours had elapsed the smoke was noticed upstairs. . ;an ' investigation was maderand althougTThtTfire could $ located, the fire alarm was turned in. It was discovered that a spark had in Some way -found 4ts - way through- a very small hole in the grate, and the fire was simmering between the walls. A hole was chopped in the wall, through which chemicals and snow were used and after some time the fire was extinguished. The damage from fire is small but the tearing up of floors and walls will probably add to the loss. Forest Kempton of Illinois and Raymond Morgan of Indiana university ar(? home to spend the holidays with their parents. . Entertain Many Friands. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cook'entertained the following to Christmas dinner: Mr. and Mrs. Gus Rodenfelt and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Conkle and Mr., and Mrs. Wayne Lycan and families of Richmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Walkup of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The C. C. board will meet Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the church for election of officers of the church for the ensuing year. Mrs. Cora Wilson and daughters entertained Mrs. Mary Price and daughter, Alice, to dinner Sunday. Mrs. W. A. Bertsch spent a part of last week with her son, Robert, at Greensburg. Her main purpose iu making this visit being to see her first grandchild, their little daughter. MRS. KINSINGER CIES MILTON, Ind., Dec. 27. Mrs. Phoebe Kinsinger, widow of John Kinsinger, is dead at the home of her son, Gus Kinsinger, east of town: She was 84 and is survived by eight children. The funeral services will be from the Lutheran church, at East Germantown, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with interment at that cemetery. Mrs. Kinsinger has been an invalid for several years, but had been worse the last week. She died Monday night. She was born in Germany but came to this country while youngPrinting" was practiced generally in China about the sixth century. To Ward Off Winter Complexion Ills To keep the face smooth, white and beautifu lall winter, there's nothing quite so good as ordinary mercolieed wax. Rough ( chapped or discolored skin, inevitable in this weather, is gently absorbed by the wax and repllaced by the newer, fresher skin beneath. The face exhibits no trace of the wax, the latter being applied at bedtime and washed off mornings. Creams, powders and rouges, on the other hand, are apt to appear conspicuous at this season, because of alternating expansion and contraction of the skin, due to changing' temperatures. You are advised to. try this simple treatment. Get an ounce of mercolized wax at any drug store and use like cold cream. This will help any skin at once, and In a week or so the complexion will look remarkably youthful and healthy. Winds and flying'dust often cause squinting and other contortions which ; make wrinkles. You can quickly get rid of every wrinkle, however produced, by using a harmless face bath made by dissolving one ounce powdered sax olite in one-half pint witch haael. Adv.
