MELBOURNE, Australia, Dec. 26. (Correspondence of The Associated Press) "Notwithstanding the limitations imposed by the people's verdict in refusing to accept conscription, the fcoveinment believes Australia will continue to play her part creditably in this war." said Premier Hughes in a recent speech at the Lord Mayor's (Mnner in Melbourne. "settled one point, and one point only that we may not have recourse to compulsion in order to provide reinforcements for oversea service during the war and of course it cannot affect in any way Australia's obligations to the empire.
