PRICE OF ICE HERE MAY SOAR UPWARD
Has the price of water gone up in Richmond? If not, should the price of ice increase? Wrong again, water is a minor, but necessary detail of ice making, according to William H. Hatfield, manager of the Rettig and Johnson Ice Company. . ? Ammonia and chemicals have doubled in price since the war and have been at the high figure for more than a year.Mr. Hatfield said. They are what count in the manufacture of ice. "The ice situation is a rather" peculiar one here," said Mr. Hatfield. "I dont know whether the price will
go up here next summer. There is little ice being used now, but Just as much here proportionately as in Indianapolis." . . The price went up 10 cents a hundred ponds in Indianapolis, according to announcement of the ice dealers there. - -
