MISSING DEACONESS, BORN IN RICHMOND, LIVED AT ECONOMY
Miss Winifred Brown, the young deacones who disappeared from the Deaconess Home, Indianapolis, a week ago is an Economy girl and was born in Richmond. She is especially well known here and Miss Hazel Gordon of this city was a guest of Miss Brown at the Deaconess Home at the time of her disappearance. Miss Gordon is at present assisting in the seared for the young deaconess. Miss Brown was a very popular girl at Economy before she left to take up work in the Deaconess Home two years ago. Relatives of Miss Brown who live two miles northeast of Economy are greatly puzzled over the girl's strange disappearance. The father, Walter Brown, and the brother, Glen Brown, are assisting in the search. May Be in South Bend. Clues concerning the whereabouts of Miss Brown indicate that she went to South Bend, lnd., in her flight. She told no one about hr going. Friends of the deaconess hold the opinion that Miss Brown suffered an accute attack of melancholia as a result of the undermining of her health and that she was determind to get a rest by hiding herself from her friends. State-wide interest in the disappearance of the young woman has been shown in the pat few days. Scores of communications in regard to the young religious worker have been received by members of the board of directors of the hospital. Several persons who saw the young lady's picture in newspapers notified hospital authorities that they saw the young lady shortly after the time of her disappearance on an L. E. & W. train bound for South Bend.

SAVANTS DISCUSS "VIEWS OF LIFE"
BERLIN, Dec. 18. The Impulse of the Germans to organize for every possible purpose and hold national gatherings has not been checked by the war. The other day a little national convention was held at Lauterberg, a summer resort in the i Harz Mountains, the like of which has never been heard of in any other country. It was a "View-of-life Convention." Every German who makes any intellectual pretentions at all feels that he must liave his "Weltanschauung," or view of life, his theory as to the government of the Universe and man's place in it. Acting in this spirit a small coterie of professors decided to hold this unique convention and read
papers on the different aspects of the phllosophyof life. Papers were read on "The Principal Views of Life '"in the Leading Civilized Nations and Germany's Cultural Mission," and ."The Views of Life of Our Classical Writers." One hundred and fifey persons from all parts of the Empire were present. , -i
