MAY AND HER PIE .. ' ' ''' ' ; i On afternoon May's mother gave her a pic. May went to the back porch, and Jack, her dog, followed her. May gat down and Jack looked at the pie. May thought that Jack was hungry, and gave Jack part of the pie. Then came a cat and looked at May. May said poor cat she la hungry and gave her part of th pie. Then came a robin for some pie. May gave tne robin a part of the pie. And then came a rabbit and jump around May, May thought the rabit was hungry and gave all the pie she had left. She went in the house and asked her mother for another pie. THE FAIRY'S GIFT Long ago there lived a -widow and her child. One day the little girl said, to her mother, "Today la Thanksgiving and we have nothing in the house to eat." Just then they heard a knock oh the door and the little girl went to the door and there was a fairy with a large basket which she handed to the llttle girl. She thanked the fairy and asked her In but Bhe said, "No,"and went on her way. When the mother opened the basket there was fruit of all kinds, turkey and many other good things. Once upon a time I had four cats their names were Fanny, Tom, Spottie and Snow Ball. They climbed trees. One day we went to their nest. Fanny was dead, Ve dug a hole and buried her. The rest of them were all right for about a month. A dog killed the mother and the little ones were not old enough to find their own living. T found them and I fed them I had
