1 ocai 4PEACE REPORT SENDS WHEAT CRASHING DOWN CHICAGO, Dc. 15. Wheat crashed down In talus today on account o! peace reports. First sals showed a fall In Botne cases of 8 cents a buehel. Mar wheat touching $1.68, as against 16GU to 1.66 at jreBterdays inlsh. At the opening prices Varied as much as five cents in different parts of the pit at the same time. May ranging from 81.58 to 163. Within an hour, losses had been widened to 10 cents a bushel. May wheat tumbled to $1X6 on the closing out of accounts In which margins had been swallowed up completely. As compared with price a month ago, the market at this stage was down more than 45 cents a bushel, in the Dec. delirery. Developments In connection with Germany's peace proposal swept wheat values more sensationally down today than did the first peace offers from Berlin three days ago. Despite some rallies on the way down, May wheat fell to $1.56 as compared with $1.66 vi to $1.66 at yesterday's flhiish. The market as a whole opened 3 to B cents lower,, with May at $1.6? V6 to $1 63 and July at $1.36 to $1 S3, and fluctuated wildly for more than ah hour. Corn showed relative steadiness after opening Hi to 2 cents lower, the market recovered to a slight extent.
