CLARENCE MAYHEW LIKES COLD SNAPS; FEW TRAINS LATE
Clarence Maybew, station master for the Pennsylvania railroad, has what would appear to be a hard job. He likes It. "Great This Is fine," he said, stepping from the warm station to the cold train sbcd platform. He has a long
heavy coat for winter wear, and his
cars are well bundled up. As the trains are bunched, he can do much of
his outside work in periods. The
station, which la always warm, Is popular with citizens as well as travelers, but the train shed Is deserted. Sun never strikes it and a cold northwest wind sweeps through, carrying fine snow with it. Trains have maintained schedules better than had been expected, many beltig on time yesterday and today, and only a few more than 15 minutes late. The effect of the cold snap is felt at the round house where the men who fire the engines have to be ahead of their usual schedules In order to get boilers hot and thaw out the cold engines. " Railroad men generally like the cold weather, according to members of train crews. Freight crews on long runs consider themselves well off, with snug cabins which are warm enough to create drowsiness. "I was called out of a warm bed at 3 o'clock this morning," an engineer said. "That's tho chief hardship ' ic the winter." '

SAYS VAR-NE-SIS IS WONDERFUL
Baltimore Woman Relates How Rheumatism Joints Returned to Normal.,
Mrs. F. S. Lambert of 2414 Sisson St., Baltimore, Md., feels grateful for the benefit she derived from Var-ne-sis. She said: "I suffered from rheumatism of the joints for fifteen years, during that time I have treated with many doc

My fingers were stiff and 6ore and moved with great difficulty. I was bent over and it as impossible to straighten up. Var-ne-sis was recommended and after several months treatment I am as straight as a string. My recovery is the talk of the neigborhood. I cannot recommend Var-ne-sis too highly. Send to W. A Varney.
