E. parsonige here. STAR GIVES DEGREE MILTON, Ind., Dec. 8. The Eastern Star met in stated meeting Wedneslay evening and conferred its degree in two candidates, Mr. and Mrs. John 3. Mannon, of Cambridge City. The vork was exemplified in a very beaudful manner by the local Chapter, Mrs. Ada Goebel, matron, and Mrs. Charles Wheeler, patron, presiding. Wallace P. ftoudebush, private secretary of Presilent R. M. Hughes, of Miami university, has been appointed acting . secretary of the board of trustees of the institution, to succeed the late George Spencer Bishop. The office will be permanently filled when the trustees neet in June.

Dillon was lodged in jail charged with assault and battery.
