SICK MAN REQUESTS THAT FRIENDS GALL
HAGERSTOWN, Ind., Dec. 7. Saturday was the birthday anniversary of Sol Copeland and a surprise dinner was planned for him by Mrs. Copeland and daughter. Miss Ruth Copeland, to be given on Sunday. Mr. Copeland took suddenly ill and the secret was rerealed to him. According to his wishes the dinner to which many guests had been invited was given although his condition was considered rather serious. BRYAN GIVES VIEWS - ON .TRANSPORTATION
WASHINGTON, Dec. 7. William J. Bryan appeared today before the joint congressional committee investigating transportation problems and opposed centralization of power in the federal government in connection with railroad suggestions for federal incorporationand the proposal to lessen the power of state railroad commissions by lodging greater power of regulation in the interstate commerce commission.
