NEW CASTLE BUILDS TEAM AROUND ITS BIG CENTER "What It Takes to Beat New Castle, We've Got," says the Richmond high school basketball colony In referring to the high school game at the Coliseum Wednesday evening. In making the above effusion R. H. S. takes it for granted that it can beat the following combination which represents the strong and weak parts of the New Castle team: Nw Castle, as a team, averages 110 pounds, a trifle lighter than the R. II. S. five. Source of Visitors' Strength New Castle is a one man team centered around the prowess of one Captain Johnny Klinger, center. New Castle's forwards, Posten and Pence, are strong on the dribble game. In size and reach they compare favorably with Richmond's end combination of Jessup and O'Neal. New Castle's guards Wise and Eden, are new men, but husky and with ability to cover. New Castle's Record New Castle's record this year Is one game won and two games lost. New Castle defeated Hagerstown by six points, but dropped close games to Connersville and Hartford City. The latter games were played on foreign floors. New Castle comes here tomorrow night with extreme confidence in Its ability to trim the Quakers. . New Castle contends that Richmond de feated Anderson by " sheer luck." They claim the true worth of the R. II. S. was demonstrated In the Muncie fiasco. HORSE SHOES GOME BACK INTO FAVOR NEW MADISON, O., Nov. 28. "Horse-shoes" is the game of the hour here. MUSH DIET ORDERED BY SHERIFF STEEN The slang expression "he's eating beans off the county," is doomed. Hereafter, it will be "he's eating mush off the county." With beans selling at $8 a hundred pounds, Sheriff Steen has ordered that they shall be served to prisoners only once a week. In former years, it was the custom of sheriffs to serve beans to the prisoners every day of the week. Fried mush has to date proved the most successful substitute. DEATH CALLS Continued from page One agent for sixteen counties, Mr. Barber gained the reputation of being an expert on points of insurance. He wrote one policy for $100,000, for Bert Westcott, now of Springfield, and wrote big policies for many men who are now prominent here. He probably wrote more policies in his time than any other man. Mr. Barber was born April 10, 1842, on a farm near Greenfield, O., and came to Richmond when about 30 years old. He was a brakeman in the early days of railroading and was a conductor here when he met with an accident which caused him to seek a new field. When raising a window in a car, he was struck In his eye by a file, causing him to lose the eye. He then operated the restaurant In the Pennsylvania depot for a short time. .
