ASYLUM TAXED BEYOND CAPACITY WITH PATIENTS Capacity of Eastern Indiana Hospital tor the Insane Is not large enough to provide for the insane in the district served by the institution and it is generally understood that Superintendent S. E. Smith will recommend to the legislative : committee, when it visits the hospital, that the legislature next year .make an appropriation for the enlargement of the institution. This committee is expected to visit the hospital some time within the next two weeks.''' For the current year there as a total of $191,785.28 of the $191,787.28 drawn from the state treasury was expended for the maintenance of the Eastern Indiana Hospital" for the Insane, ac cording to the financial report of Superintendent S. E. Smith, made pub lic today. The average number of patients cared for was 800 with a per capita coat for maintenance of $185.10, a per capita cost of $11.53 for repairs and a per capita Cost of $5.48 for clothing, a total per capita cost of $202.11. i An inventory of the institution's property shows a-valuation of $1,035, 672.45. ..... w . The enrollment, September 30, was 891. For the same date the previous year the enrollment was 874. ' The daily average of patients the past year was 860.4. , During the past year there were 1,025 patients treated at the hospital.' -fej m - -. SUIT FILED IN FEDERAL COURT. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 17. Suit was filed in the Federal court here to day by the Illinois Central railroad to test the validity of the Adamson eighthour law. ALCOHOL FAMINE HITS AUTO OWNERS WHEN GOLD GOMES ,r Richmond is facing a denatured alcohol famine. There is scarcely any in the city. No relief to in sight. ; Son years ago this condition would not have caused alarm. Today the searcity of wood alcohol is really ;a serious matter and is causing automobile owners concern. It is used to keep the water in automobile radiators from freezing. With the sudden drop in temperature there was a tremendous demand for denatured alcohol, The supply, on hand, in the varioua retail and wholesale stores was limited. There was scarcely enough to take care of the demand even though there had been no drop in temperature. ...... i The siege of various places handling the liquid started Tuesday. When these stores and garages closed that night, few had any denatured alcohol. ' The most eminent physicians recognize that uric acid stored up in the system is the cause of rheumatism, that this uric acid poison is present in the joints, muscles, or nerves. By experimenting and analysis at the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute in Buffalo, N. Y., Dr. Pierce discovered a combination of native remedies that he called Anuric which drives out the uric acid from the system, and in this way the pain, swelling and inflammation subside. If you are a sufferer from rheumatism, backache, pains here or there, you can obtain Anuric at any drug store and get relief from the pains and ills brought about by uric acid. 'Swollen hands, ankles, feet are due to a dropsical condition, often caused by disordered kidneys. Naturally when the kidneys are deranged the blood is filled with poisonous uric acid, which settles in the tissues of the feet, ankles, wrists, or back as uratic salts; or under the eyes in bag-like formations. :. - It Is just as necessary to keep the kidneys acting properly as to keep the bowels active to rid the body of poisons. The very best possible way to take earn of vourself is to take a elass of hot water before meals and an Anuric tablet. In this way it Is readily dissolved with the food, picked up by the blood and finally reaches the kidneys, where it has a cleansing and tonic effect. : Step into the drug store and ask for a 60-cent package of Anuric, or send Dr.. Pierce 10c. for trial pckg. Anuric many times more potent than lithia, eliminates uric acid as hot water melt3 sugar. A Bhort trial will convince you. i
