INDIANA TO BECOME DO IF STATE REMAINS "WET
"It will not be many years until all the breweries in the country be manufacturing denatured alcohol ' to replace gasoline and coal," declared Mrs. Mary Harris Armor, "Georgia Cyclone," when she spoke at the East Main Street Friends church last night Mrs. Armor was brought to Richmond under the auspices of the Wayne County W. C. T. U, She spoke to, a capacity audience. "There will be no use for the kind of alcohol that the breweries are now putting out because it will only be flew years until a nation vrldo prohibition amendment will be a'dded to the constitution. The coal supply will soon be a thing of the past. We have wasted our natural resources frightfully. Denatured alcohol will take its place as a fuel. ' Gasoline will also , soon be a thing of the past. Wood alcohol can be used in place of gasoline to run motors. - " , Breweries Make Fuel "With but slight changes, breweries can manufacture the denatured alcohol and there will be plenty of raw material as long as grass grows and water runs." ' , Mrs. Armor was introduced by Timothy Nicholson, known throughout the country as a dry worker. "Thank God, Indiana has elected a dry governor, and it may be possible with him in the chair to put a statewide prohibition bill through the next legislature," said Mr. Nicholson. "Nine-tenths of the territory in Indiana is at present dry and I hate to 6ay that Richmond Is one of the black spots on the map which has not yet abolished saloons.''! ' -J . Mrs. Armor easily demonstrated
that she was rightly named, "the Georgia i Cyclone." "Michigan has gone dry and Indiana will hate to go dry in self defense," said Mrs. Armor. , "If Indiana doesn't go dry in a hurry it will be a dumping ground for all the Michigan 'wet' men., ' "If the north doesn't go dry within the next two years, I never want to hear you brag that you freed the slaves." ' "The South is dry but the North hesitates because it is 'going to cost something.' i "When the North freed the slaves in the South, did it stop to consider that it was going to cost the South something? Every Southerner is glad today that the slaves are freed and that their country is freed from the curse of slavery. So are they glad that it is freed from the, curse of drink. Liquor Men in Hiding. "Liquor men are hiding under the pretense that governments could not get along without the revenue from liquor. Over half of the states in the union are demonstrating that this is a falsehood. "License money is hush money. If the liquor business is not wrong, it has been badly mistreated because of the legal limitations which have been placed on it. , "America must go dry before the war closes. " At the end of the great European struggle; this country will very likely become a dumping ground for people who have forgotten that there is a God. We must bring them back to the right way jot living. If the nation is not dry before that time, -their votes could keep it from going so.',' . ; ,
