WANT TRACTION LINE TO RAISE PART OF TRACK
Efforts will be made by the South Side Improvement association to get the T. II. I. & E. traction company to raise its car tracks on South Eighth street between L and jt streets. This was decided upon at the meeting of the association last night. The street is low at this point and during the wet seasons water forms In puddles, covering the car tracks. The street cannot well be raised unless the car tracks are elevated. Committee Appointed. William II. Bartel, Jr., Henry E. Bode and B. A. Kennepohl were appointed on a committee to see whether the water works company could be persuaded to extend its water main on South Fifth street as far as N street This would necessitate the laying of a new line from I street. The company will be asked to lay large enough pipe so a fire hydrant could be established. It is understood that the company wants $300 for laying the line. This expense would have to be met by property owners who .would bej benefitted. The same committee will investigate i the advisability of the South Side Im- j provement association, The National Automatic Tool company, The Adding and Listing Machine company and the : Brown Collar pad company going to- j gether and paying $48 a year rent to the water company to have the fire hydrant replaced at the National Automatic Tool company. From this hydrant, the buildings of all four corporations can easily be reached. Raises No Protest. The hydrant was removed about a month ago. Because of its strictly fire proof plant, the Natco considered that the hydrant was no longer.a necessity, and made no effort to keep the water company from taking it out. When D. S. Brown moves his Collar pad factory from Richmond, the South Side Improvement association will make every available effort to get a new industry to move into the vacant buildings. The secretary of the association was instructed to find the purchase price which Mr. Brown will ask for .buildings. SELECTS "Y" 'SQUAD Representative team to battle the Muncie "Y" volley ball shooters at the Richmond association gym Thanksgiving afternoon will be determined tonight when the Fives and Sixes, rival business men's factions meet in combat on the gym floor. A real argument is anticipated. SET CHAFIN HEARING
Trial of the State vs. Newton and Leona Chafln will be held In the circult court next Tuesday.
The Drinking of Water (By M. C. Lucas, M. D.) The general conclusions of the latest medical scientists proves that drinking of plenty of pure water both be-, tween meals and with one's meals is beneficial to health. It has also been proven by means of the X-rays and actual tests upon many healthy young men that the drinking of water with meals is not harmful to digestion. Those suffering from a catarrhal condition of the stomach will find benefit In adding about 10 grains (one-sixth of level teaspoonful) of baking-soda to a pint of hot water.'drinklng it a half hour before each meal. Such as are Inclined to hyper-acidity should drink n pint of medium cold water, two hours after meals. If you ever suffer from headache, lumbago, rheumatism or any of the symptoms of kidney trouble such as deep colored urine, sediment in urine, getting out of bed at night frequently and other troublesome effects, take a pint of hot water and a little Anuric before meals. These Anuric tablets can be obtained at almost any drug store and were first discovered by Dr. Pierce. American men and women must guard constantly against kidney trouble, because we eat too much and all our food is rich. Our blood is filled ' with uric acid which the kidneys strive to filter out, they weaken from overwork, become sluggish; the eliminative tissues clog and the result Is kidney trouble, bladder weakness and often the poison reaches the tissues, causing rheumatism and gout. When your kidneys feel like lumps of lead, when your back hurtr or the urine is cloudy, full of sediment, or you are obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night, when you suffer .with sick headache or dizzy, nervous spells, acid stomach, or you have rheumatism when the weather la bad, ask your druggist for Anuric. I have found in practice that Anuric Is more potent than lithia and in most cases )lt will dissolve the uric, acid as hot water does Bugar. Adv.

8 DEGREES ABOVE RECORD FOR TODAY
The demise of Indian summer was complete today when . winter winds crept up In an unusually gentle manner and Jumped on the thermometer with both feet and a coal famine. The temperature dropped to 8 degrees at the water works pumping station, according to a record taken by Observer Walter Vossler before the sun came up. , For the first time this year, ice appeared on sidewalks on streets following yesterday's mild snowfall. The warmth of the sun was cut off shortly after noon and tiny flakes began to fall with the appearance of the beginning of an all-night snow storm. Fair weather was forecast for Richmond, however. Ice formed last night on small bodies of water around Richmond. Downtown when first workers were on the street, the temperature was 13 degrees.
