AMUSEMENTS AT
LOCAL HOUSES
MURRAY Earle S. Dewey and Mabel "Billle' Rogers who are this season with "Around the- Town" E. P. Churchill (Inc.) latest musical comedy production, are adding to their already great popularity in every theatre in which this new tabloid is presented. David M. Tolffff, the author of the book and lyrics has been a great admirer of Mr. Dewey for some time past, and when commissioned to execute this
l work( was able to add bits of perI ronal dialogue that is not often an
author's good fortune to put over. The music by Ray Peabody is in this talented young composer's best spirit, and contains several numbers destined to be on every piano before the season is over. "Around the Town" comes to the Murray theatre Tonight, Friday and Saturday.

Along with this act the following bill will be presented: Joseph Remington & Co., in the comedy sketch, "A Millinery Salesman." This act will give everyone what they are looking for "A Good Laugh."' Graf appear in a singing playlet, followed by Ogden & Benson, "A pleasing pair from Songland."
"Our whole system of teaching literature Is wrong, we simply skim over it, instead of living it," said Professor Benjamin Null of the high school English department. Mr. Null further announced that he proposed to use his influence to have the Eastern method of teaching introduced into the Indiana schools and that he would have a demonstration before the Indiana Teachers' association at the meeting next year. Mr. Null was recently elected president of the English section of the state association. During his special course at the Powers School of Oratory near Boston last summer, Professor Null became convinced that the Eastern system of instruction opens more of the faculties to the study of literature and thus makes a definite and more permanent impression upon the student. Should Live Literature "We give a boy a poem or a story full of thrills, put him in the. corner and order him to be quiet, when the piece really calls to him to spring into action and to live it. By the Eastern method the voice and the body are both brought into play. They interpret what they study with the voice and the body until when they read Paul Revere's ride or a drama or a short story, they live it. Such a plan of study makes litreature a most thoroughly pleasant and beneficial course." Prof. Null has discussed his new conception with Superintendent Giles,

The Official Press Bureau has issued a new story of Queen Alexandra, mother of King George. It tell3 of her fearlessness of Zeppelins. "Queen Alexandra has very quietly thown the women of England that ene, at least, has no fear of the Zeppelin terror. Her Majesty has been overworking lately in her duties as patron of the British Red Cross Society, and visitor at countless military hospitals, and her doctors advised a Ehort rest and a complete change. Queen Alexandra has lived in London almost continuously since the beginning of the war. "Her majesty at once decided to go to Sandringham, which is in Norfolk, one of the counties most likely to be raided by Zeppelins, and by doing so she has quietly shown an example of womanly courage and Indifference which has evoked the warmest adrnirition. "Queen Alexandra was fully occupied with her hospital visiting until
she left London, and on the last day of her rounds she did a characteristically thoughtful act. Talking with a man who had reached the hosuital only a few hours before her visit, she learned that he could not sleep. 'Do you read?' she asked. "I have not seen a book for months, ma'am,' ho replied. Queen Alexandra opened her handbag and took from it a little volume beautifully bound in red leather. 'I'll give you this,' she said. 'It has soothed me when 1 was restless.' And she handed the wounded soldier a book of private devotional readings one of her constant ccrnnrtnior.s. "0;h'r woundad soldiers looked hun-
; grily f t Iho Queen. She shook her jhrad to ouo of them and said: "I've only one copy of that book, but I'll Venn,? vmi "' Komet.hine else' And the
next day little rest pillows and walking sticks and cigarettes arrived enough for every wounded man In the hospital.
