Political, circles still stirred today as a result of the charge made by the Democratic national committee that Charles E. Hughes, contracted a "campaign deal" through Jeremiah A. O'Leary whereby he was to procure for Hughes the Irish-American and Ger. man-American vote, which charge, by the war, Mr. Hughes has vehemently denied. The Democratic National Campaign Committee asserted that Hughes In conference with O'Leary practically repudiated Col. Roosevelt and assured O'Leary that his (Hughes') cam. paign speeches of the future would be entirely satisfactory to the interests represented by O'Leary. It was alleged that O'Leary reported back to this effect to the American Independence Conference, of which he is a leading member.

PARKER TO APPEAR ' IN BOYTOWN COURT

This is the question of law which Boytown Mayor Harris will have to decide next week when Russell Parker, president of the Senior class at high school, is brought before him on a charge of having committed "assault and battery" on his embryo moustache. Chemicals were used to extinguish a small blaze in the floor of a box car on the Pennsylvania siding at the Elliot t-Reid fence factory at midnight last night. Origl nof the fire, which did practically no damage is unknown.

Following the close of the Indiana Bankers association at Indianapolis yesterday, the members who are also affiliated with the American Bankers' association held a 'meeting. J. P. Frenzel of the Merchants' National Bank of Indianapolis, was elected chairman of the executive council for three years. A. D. Gayle, president of the First National bank of this city, was appointed a member of the nominating committee. , ;

Well, according to the National Voters' league, nine of the Indiana solons are "mawsh," a new adjective coined from the initials of the words "might as well stay at home." Finly Gray, representing the Sixth district, is praised by the league as being "independent."

; Farmers are just beginning to husk corn, according to reports from rural sections. The grain is yet too green which would cause heavy loss if it were packed in cribs at present.
