Brides, Pretty or Homely, Blush
"Spend some time at the county clerk's office for several days and 'help' them issue marriage licenses," a reporter was instructed. That meant that some popular belief about marriage must be overthrown. Think of that! Wanting to know something new about the oldest Institution marriage ! Well, the observation resulted in these discoveries: The "blushing bride" does blush, and. the "nervous? bridegroom is nervous. These facts are not drawn on popular imagination. They are founded on fact and the observation of twenty couples. This happened last week: She was 18. He was 22. They walked up to the desk where Deputy Clerk Gus Hafner and I were standing. Hafner met them with a gaze calmed by much experience. ujklh 4kA Im 4 1. a a uispih miltf

He studied a while to think of his name and then wrote. She blushed, although she tried no c to. Then she wore a look of pride. Hadn't she won her man? Then she wrote her name. "Last time you'll ever sign your name that way," said he in an off-hand way. Her answering smile was more sincere. The next couple was fussed right. They went to three offices before they got to the right place. Al. Brown, the elevator man, finally set them on the right track. When he let them off the elevator, Brown told them to go to their right. In their confusion.-they got ' right and left mixed and landed in the treasurer's office. "It's at the west end of the building," the blushing couple was informed. How should they know which way was west. They went south and landed in the auditor's office. Again they received instructions. Mr. Brown for an explanation. He led them to the clerk's office. The troubled smile left when the clerk answered, "Yes, this is the place," and shoved out the application. The next couple, observed carefully, knew what they Were about. "Married before," said Miss Smith, an assistant in the office. "Once," said the woman. But despite her calmness, she giggled and blushed. . It was. several weeks ago when a woman of 6S, well dressed, and a man of 70, made their appearance at the window. "Married before?" Inquired Hafner, who happened to be at the window this time. "No," said the woman. Her face grew pink above her high collar. It is just taken as a routine affair at the clerk's office. i WHY HAIR FALLS OUT I 4 Dandruff causes a feverish irritation of the scalp, the hair roots shrink, loosen and then the hair comes out fast.
