LIVING ORNAMENTS WORN ON DRESSES BY LOCAL WOMEN
A lizard like reptile, whose color changes more or lest with that of the objects about It or with Its temper when disturbed Is the latest ornament ior women's dreses which has made Its appearance in Richmond. It Is known as a chameleon.
Yes, they are alive and have to be
fastened to the dress by a small string or chain. Two merchants put a large supply on sale Friday morning and , when they closed Saturday night, most of the tiny reptiles had been sold. . .The small animals ' are absolutely harmless. When their services are not required as ornaments, they can
, be used as house pets. In appear
ance they closely resemble a small alligator. They are about three Inch- ' ts long. - , One particularly nice thing about the
1 pets is that they have to be fed only
' about once a week. ,

LABORER TALKS
Continued from page One meetings, held each noon, the remainder of the week, follows: - TuesdayAutomatic Tool Works. Wednesday Swayne,- Robinson & Co. Thursday Railroad shops. ? ' Friday Refrigerator Co. and F. & N. Co. ' - Saturday Pennsylvania Yards. - "The great Jabor statute in this country is not the so-called 'eighthour law; it is the protective tariff law," Miller said today. "We do not have such a law now, but when the war ends, we workmen are going to stand in mighty need of such a law. That is not a dream. It's the bitter truth. If we have such a law we must elect a Republican president and a Republican congress. "Right now we workers are enjoying abnormal prosperity. President Wilson Is not responsible for this prosperity. The European war brought good times to us. If you doubt this just recall the conditions that existed right after the Democrats enacted their present tarifT law and just prior to the war. Remember how nearly every facory was either shut down or running on part time? "I hate to think of what is going to happen to us . wage earners if the present Democratic tariff is still operative at the close of the war. Stricken Europe is going to resume its industrial activities then with pauper labor and it is going out across seas in search of a market. And Europe is going to find its best market right

Kidney disease is too dangerous to r.eglect. At the first sign of backache, headache, dizziness or urinary disorders, you should give the weakened kidneys prompt attention. Eat little meat, take things easier and use a reliable kidney tonic. There's no other kidney medicine so well recommended as Doan's Kidney Pills. Richmond people rely on them. Here's one of the many statements from Richmond people. William Cooper, 414 S. 11th St., Richmond, says: "My back was weak and lame and ached a great deal. Whenever it became too ifcad I usejl Doan's Kidney Pills and -they never failed to relieve me in a short time. I believe they will cure anyone if used right and I advise anyone to get a box

In addition, nearly every lodge has had some special activities which has drained the men of the city heavily. Churches began their autumn activities with a rush. - There have been other campaign of city wide interest, including hospital tag day and others of a more minor nature. Politics Take Platform Politico has now taken the place of these and it, too, may suffer in point of Interest as a result of the strenuous weeks the city has Just spent. It Is generally conceded Richmond Is dull politically at the present moment and no matter how vigorous . campaign managers become In hammering on the election Issues, It Is probable that
voters will have to be dragged out to meetings and they will, generally, depend on newspapers for their political information.

BpGiimondSalesman; Wants Others to Try
Business men, professional men, artisans and innumerable women, whose common practical judgment guides them in all of their acts and conclusions, are now testifying to the merits of the medicine. Tanlac. Everett Grlffen, salesman, who lives in Richmond, and is well known to local people, said on October 17: "I have suffered from stomach trouble and nervousness for about two years. I was bothered with dull headaches and I usually had a bad taste In my mouth. Sometimes I could not retain the food I ate, vomiting resulting. I didnt rest well at night because of neTTousnesB, and I was losing weight and strength constantly. I tried medicine after medicine but still, the same old trouble would bother me. "Friends heard about Tanlac and its work in the cases of others who suffered as I did, and prevailed on me to give it a trial. I've taken one bottle of Tanlac now and I'm much improved. I sleep well at night now and the l headaches that formerly bothered me uav vanished. Tanlac has helped me
more than any other medicine I ever took in my life. In fact, it's the only medicine that ever helped me. "I recommend Tanlac because of the good it has done me and I sincerely hope all who suffer as I did will give it a trial." Commenting on the statement of Mr. Grlffen, the Tanlac Man, who is meeting the public at the Sixth and Main streets drug store of Clem Thistlethwaite, said: . "It is just as I expected. Tanlac Is proving a revelation to hundreds of half sick, run down men and women in Richmond who did not know exactly what was wrong with them." Tanlac is. especially beneficial for stomach, liver and kidney trouble, catarrhal., complaints, rheumatism, nervousness, and the likft.
