Here Are Both Sides of National Campaign
By WILLIAM R. WILLCOX Chairman Republican National Com- ' mlttee. - - The Democratic campaign managers are very fond of declaiming about the prosperity which President Wilson has brought to the country. Upon their banners they couple the name of Wilson with prosperity, with the obvious intention of implying thereby that Wilson has caused the prosperity. It requires a very brief and casual examination of the statistics of our exports, however, to show conclusively that the European war and not Woodrow Wilson has been the chief cause of the extraordinary prosperity enjoyed in spots by certain specially favored sections of the country during the last year. Take, for instance,! the single item of horses. There were exported from' the United States in the fiscal year ending June 30, 1916, horses valued, in the aggregate, at $73,531,000. The largest exports of horses up to that time had been in 1912, when the exports reached 'only
$4,764,000 about one-fifteenth as much
as In the last fiscal year. ' The exportations of breadstuffs leaped up from $165,000,000 in the fiscal year of 1914 to $573,000,000 in our fiscal year of 1915, which was in effect the first year of the war. It is, however, in the items that enter particularly into military supplies that the exceptional development has been made.
? By VANCE MeCORMICK . Chairman Democratic National Committee The Republicans are conducting the most expensive Presidential campaign In the history of the United States. The current report is that they have more funds at their disposal, through their National Committee and affiliated organizations, than ever before They are spending money with a freer hand than did Mark Hanna in 1896. and they are better "fixed", it Is stated. Whence comes the abundance of money and why? As to the first half of the above query, . "whence comes the money?" I venture the assertion that the officers and agents of great financial interests that fought the great constructive measures enacted under the Wilson administration have contributed generously to the Republican campaign fund In one way or another. Recent news reflected interesting circumstances tha probably relate to the second half of the query. I refer to the press reports of the first day's session of the American Bankers' Association that appeared in Eastern newspapers. , James K. Lynch, of San Francisco,
president of the Bankers' Association,, in his address, praised the Federal Reserve act unreservedly, and urged the bankers to work with it instead of against it. .

Winner in Over 8000 Tests
In seven years the Globe Hot Blast has been put to over 8,000 severe street demonstrations all over the U, S. These demonstrations were in competition with other makes of Hot Blasts specially constructed to burn the fuel most plentiful in each locality. The Globe, manufactured by the Globe Stove and Range Company, of Kokomo, Indiana, was declared the winner of every one! THE REASON: Its peculiar and distinctive method of heating the entering air, which is then jetted through slots into the fire, causing it to burn from the outside inward, coking the coal ahead as it burns. This causes a continual blast of blazing gases, as the warmed outside air rushes in and mingles with the gases.
