EASTERN INDIANA SENDS MANY CARS TO STATE PARADE
Twenty-five automobiles which dejrted from Richmond Thursday mornlas trailing the Richmond nana formed fie nucleus for a big delegation representing Eastern Indiana Thursday Afternoon In the centennial parade at Indianapolis. "Wo were pleasesd with the show- : leg the eastern part of Wayne county made," said Horace Kramer, Eastern Indiana chairman for the parade. The band, which made the trip on a truck, Btopped in every town and gave a band concert as a signal for the other autos to fall in on the trip to Irvlngton before proceeding into Indianapolis In line. Connersville and Shelbyrille sent big delegations and other towns responded well to such an extent that eastern Indiana's representation In the parade was greater than that from the western part which began in Terre Haute. There was no official representation frcm Centerville or Cambridge City, the Centerville citizens seeing behind thov centennial what they believed to be a political scheme. "It was not whelly political, how ever," said Mr. Kramer today. Practically every automobile in the eastern section was placarded to show
the county it represented. All the machines made excellent time on the trip" and there were no serious mishaps to mar the pleasure of the day. SHE TYPED OWN . MARRIAGE CONTRACT

Miss Pauline Cahn remembered the example set by her friend and collegemate, Miss Frieda Kirchwey, and economized on the ceremony which made her the wife of Arthur S. Levy by dispensing with the service of either minister of justice of the peace In New York. The ceremony was purely co-operative. .Mr. Levy, who Is a lawyer, sat down and dictated a contract. .Miss Cahn pounded It out on a typewriter. Then they hummed "Lohengrin" all the way downtown on the subway, and signed the document before Jus- " tice Lehman of the Supreme Court. This makes the fifth contract marriage entered into by graduates of Barnard College. Contract marriages are not frequent In the United States, although they are as binding in law as a religious ttremony. .In Europe they have been customary for many years. Levy said: "We thought we ought to marry ourelves Instead of having come on elss marry us. I am surprised that more young people do not adopt the same method which the State provides for. It Is as simple and as solemn as the usual marriage rites."
