Repairing Fences A farmer knows that a poor fence is a constant source of annoyance. Cattle and hogs will break through the enclosure, stray into the neighbors' fields and do damage, or roam on the highway. Only a stout and tight fence is effective. Hence, a farmer keeps his fences in tip-top shape. ; ! ' . v, A man who does not keep the fences of restraint and conservatism in good shape is in good position to lose valuable possessions. If a man lets his imagination run riot, he is likely to court disaster. If a man does not watch his business closely, he will discover some day that profits have been escaping through holes in the enclosure. If a man does not guard his energy, he may learn when it is too late that he did not keep the fence of physical condition in repair, and that his strength has been sapped. It pays to watch the fence.

"Try it. Here is the first note, the one yon found. Puzzle out the musical notes by their alphabetical nomenclature fro mthe key I just gave you on the scrap of paper there; then hold the note up to the iight, and read the other letters ; from the under side. Try It with both notes, and tell me what you find." Guy took the papers, and wonderingly spelled out the letters represented by the musical notes, from the scale Blaine had given him. Then turning the pages over, he held them up to the light, an exclamation of absorbed Interest escaping him.
