The accompanying picture shows Mrs. Chong, registering at the primaries In San Francisco while she carries her youngest child. Her husband was the first Chinese boy to attend a public school in San Francisco. He

afterwards went back to China and was elected a Senator in the republic a few years ago.

MILTON, Ind., Oct. 12. The hristlan church Sunday school will observe Rally Day and Home-Comlng, Sunday morning. Everybody is Invited to be present. The Rev. F. C. Mccormick, pastor, preach following Sunday school. Special music will be prepared for the occasion The report of the treasurer, Mrs. D. H. Warren, for the Woman's Cemetery association, for the year just closed, shows that the receipts for the year as a total were $149.15. This was distributed as follows: Dues, $65.20, by solicitation In June, $40.90, by play given in September for the benefit of the association, door receipts', $43.05. Total expenditures for the year, $115.03. Balance In treasury, $34.12. At the beginning of the year, Oct. 1, 1916, the association was in debt $14.56. Mrs. D. H. Warren was elected treasurer to succeed herself for the year 1916-17 Mr. and Mrs. M. Thurman and sister of Splceland, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Robbins, the early part of the week.... The grange of this township met with Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Wilson, Tuesday evening.. . . .The high school will have a market at the Houseworth block, Saturday at 9 a. m.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.. Oct 12. Charley Sarkin Genem. an Egyptian, had trouble in renouncing allegiance to all foreign princes and potentates when he applied for American citizenship. He wished to renounce his Egyptian ruler, but he explained there were so many of them that he did not know whom to renounce. He gave his former residence in Egypt and the naturalization department at Chicago gave the desired information.
