BUS PARKER WILL CAPTAIN RICHMOND FIVE RuBsell (Bus) Parker, veteran center and logical man for the position again this year, will be named captain of the R. H. S. basketball team when the sQuad meets soon to elect its leader. Talbert Jessup and Roland Dolllns, other eliglbles, will withdraw in favor of Parker, it is understood. Basketball at Richmond Hi is on in tarnest now and every other night sees the basketball contingent busy in the school gym. Coach Lyboult evidently is an exponent of the "early bird" policy and is getting his men away to an early start. Hat Strong Material. From the material on hand, both veteran and novice, R. H. S. is to have a state team this year. Both in the offensive and departments, there is material in plenty. The team as a whole will be heavier this year and wili have Just as much speed. Offensive of the five will be built around a new set of men. Brown and Porter, last season's end men, are lost to the team. In their place Coach Lyboult has Howard Webb, Roy Miller, Herbie Bulach, Ike Kennedy, Johnny Poster, Eno O'Niel, Ernie Porter and others of promise. For center, the team, hass Kap Parker, Cutey Dolllns and Lengthy Hasecoster, all six footers, and more or less experienced men. This department is well taken care of. On the defense, R. H. S. will be especially strong. In Tal Jessup, the husky defense man of last year's bunch, Lyboult has at least one guard position filled. Jessup's right to a regular berth is not questioned. Hobe Mnrrl fiarwood Orlmes. Everett Shelton, Carl Brady and others will make' a strong bid for the remaining vacancies. CHAMPS OF '16 MEET VIGRANS
'. It will be a case of team mate against team mate at Athletic park Sunday afternoon, when the champs of the '16 S. A. L. the Natcos tackle the cambric winners of the '15 race the Vigrans. Several members of the old Vigran champion outfit are now with the Natco club. Old team mates Pete Minier. Natco and Russ Hawekotte, Vlgrans, will oppose each other on the slab. And other incidents will tend to make it a regular family affair. The mainstays of the Vigran 1915 club were members of the Indianapolis Glove team this year. The rivalry of the Natcos and Glovers is S. A. L. history. LOCAL SPORTS BOOSTING SOX TO WIN SERIES Three days before the opening clash at Boston Saturday, the local baseball fraternity Is staking its meal tickets on the Boston Red Sox. Brooklyn, the National league champ, Is taking the dust in the 6ets of 3-1, 2-1 and even 4-1 odds offered by the more sportiaclly Inclined baseball fiends of the city. The Sox, apparently, are the general favorites. That the Dodgers, novices at world series affairs, should stand a very big chance against the more seasoned world champ Sox is not freely admitted here. A 2-1 shot on Brooklyn offered at a local cafe last night was greedily snapped up by a party who considered himself very lucky. 1 Two two propositions are fairly popular with backers of the National. j CLUB HOLDS SHOOT BOSTON, Ind., Oct., 4.
