WOMAN WHO READ BIBLE THREE TIMES IS DEAD AT EATON

EATON, 0., Sept. 28. Mrs. Christlna Wesco, .the county's oldest and most remarkable woman, died about 2:30 'Wednesday afternoon at her home on East Main street. Infirmities were responsible. The deceased was born Dec. 12, 1822 Jn Maryland, but most of her life had been-epent in Preble and Montgomery counties. For more than 45 years she lived in the home in which she died. She boasted the fact that she had read the Bible through three times, and declared she was glad she had done so when her eyes were such as to permit. Mrs. Wesco was the widow of Reuben Wesco, who died about twenty years ago. She is survived by these children : Mrs. Ellen Sample,' of this city; Mrs. Clarissa White and Mrs. Maria Waters of Dayton; Marion Wesco, living east of Eaton, and Jonathan Wesco, who resided at home.

FACES WATER FAMINE

OXFORD, O., Sept. 28. This village is on the verge of a water famine. Two of the waterworks wells have gone dry, and the others are low. Citizens have been urged by the village authorities to guard against fires, as the wells would not stand fire pressure an hour, they say. Street sprinkling has also been ordered discontinued.

The body of Mrs. Ben Nabor of New Paris, was brought ,here for burial Thursday. ....Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams of Richmond, were callers here Thursday. ....Mrs. Jennie Addleman attended the Addleman reunion at Glen Miller Sunday Mrs. Sam Meyers and daughter of Centerville, were guests of John Coppock and family a few days last week Joe Busby and Miss Mary Locke of West Manchester, spent the week-end with B. F. Parker and family Mrs. C. A. Blose and William G. White spent Sunday with Carl Moore and family of Glen Karn Miss Virginia Worley Is the guest'of Miss Edith Farmer.

EATON, O., Sept. 28. Eaton's water supply is rapidly reaching the famine stage, according to the trustees of the city waterworks, who have issued an order against " sprinkling. Consumers are asked to conserve the supply in every possible way.

SCIPIO, Ind., Sept. 28. lone Mosler, 15; Alta Robbing,. 16, and Daisy Fodrea, 17, who ran away from the orphans' home a few nights ago, walked to North Vernon and back to Scipio, a distance of thirty miles, with no food except a few apples. They spent two nights in barns along the way.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Sept. 28. Most of the offices in the court house are held by Republicans. There are a few Democratic officials, however. The two vied with each other in hanging pictures of Republican and Democratic candidates until by mutual agreement it was decided the courthouse was for the public and all were taken down.

INJURED IN BALL GAME

HARTFORD CITY, Ind., Sept. 28. Ross Smoote may be crippled for life as a result of an injury received in the first football game of the season when a Muncle player kicked him on the hip.

H. Brown have been visiting Mrs. Brown's father John North at Bluffton. The Priscilla club will meet with Mrs. O. L. Beeson Monday afternoon. The annual fair, market and entertainment at night by the ladies of the Christian church will be , at Booster hall, Saturday. y

DEMAND RETRACTION

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Sept.' 28. The Central Labor Union sent a letter to Senator Lawrence Sherman of Illinois, demanding that he retract statements made about Samuel Gompers, head of the American Federation of Labor. Senator Sherman answered saying he would continue the attacks.
