Mrs. William C. Compton,. of this city, has announced the .engagement of her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Cotnpton, to Lieutenant William M. Mclllvain, United States Marine Corps aviator, -who is now stationed in California. Miss Compton is a well-known beauty and has attracted attention in society all over the country. The romance began when tha. two met at a Navy ball at Coronado Beach, California.

LAFAYETTE, Ind., Sept. 18. 1916 "I made a personal investigation of Tanlac and finding the things claimed
